If I could give Spencer Manor Winery more than five stars I would! This place blew us away! It is better than wineries we have visited in Fredericksburg, Texas and in California. First the atmosphere is superb. The position of the main building on top of the hill overlooking the vineyard is perfect. The building is expertly designed and decorated. I could go on and on just about the lighting! But what will make us drive over an hour many more times in the future is the food and drinks! The menu is very eclectic and so incredibly good! My husband and I enjoy a good glass of wine which we got there but we also love bourbon and interesting cocktails which we also got there. I don’t take the time to write reviews very often but I just want the owners and staff know how much we loved our first of many visits there!

Great Food, great views, although I'm biased.
Family employed here.

It is clear that the owners are vested in this experience, as evident with their barrel sauna villas now underway. This community investment should be supported.

We came here after my son's graduation from Missouri S&T. It's a beautiful place. The menu and drinks were both delicious and creative.

My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed well-prepared cuisine in Phelps County Wine Country. Since relocating here, we have yet to discover a culinary establishment that can fully satisfy our discerning palates. On August 5th, we made our initial visit and have since returned three times. A meticulously executed dish is characterized by its well-balanced composition, visually appealing presentation, and Chef Matt’s evident culinary expertise. This is achieved through the mastery of cooking techniques, the harmonious integration of flavors and textures, and the thoughtful arrangement of the dish. Key elements include the proficiency in cooking techniques, the attainment of a balanced flavor profile, the creation of a visually appealing presentation with the consideration of height, color, and contrast, and the effective utilization of garnishes and sauces to enhance the dish without overpowering its essence.

So, the little town of St James has an absolute jewel of a location to visit as you pass through. My wife and I had learned of this through a publication we receive. We stopped in to check this out and immediately the wait staff was friendly and attentive. We sat to do a wine tasting and wow! I started with an oaked chardonnel and it was an awesome precursor of things to come. It was yummy! Next, I went to the cab savs. There were four vintages, 2017, 18, 19, and 2020. All were very good but the 2018 will blow your socks off. Totally reminds me of a cross of Duckhorn and Stag's Leap! The other wine that I tried was the bourbon barrelled chambourson. This is another excellent wine that will pair well with a good steak, lamb, or barbque! I am totally looking forward to my next visit. We did eat dinner there and the food was excellent! I highly, highly recommend this new hidden jewel!

Five-Star Winery Experience

We had the most wonderful experience at this local gem! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the spacious venue—both the modern, stunning interior and the beautifully maintained exterior made it a picture-perfect setting.

The vineyards are absolutely gorgeous, offering views and the ideal backdrop for a relaxing afternoon or special celebration. The food menu was a standout—creative, elevated, and full of fresh, flavorful options that perfectly complemented the wine selections.

Speaking of wine, every pour we had was exceptional—rich, balanced, and clearly made with care and expertise. It’s clear that quality is a priority here.

What truly set this place apart, though, were the owners. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, and impressively knowledgeable—happy to share the story behind the wines and offer thoughtful recommendations!
We can’t wait to return—and we’ll definitely be bringing friends and family with us next time. Highly recommend!

Best place in the area to grab small plates and an Old Fashioned.

Extremely poor service and out of what was advertised on two different items, one was the day's special. Two in our party did not get served with the rest of the group and had to remind watress. Expect to pay $$$.

Best food in town! The steak was amazing and I want to bathe in the pesto that comes with the fried gnocchi. Damian was a standout waiter! Incredibly kind and generous.

Here is no way to compare Spencer manor to restaurants in this area. If you are looking for interesting, creative and fresh food paired with gorgeous wine, this is your place. I love how the menu is always kept up and refreshed and so appreciate the events. Don’t miss this spot!
