This review for THE LODGE, King Suite, first floor. (They have several other lodgings close by.)
These people understand “peaceful.” Quiet, tasteful small inn of 12 rooms.
Booked same day. Says call BEFORE booking if you can’t check in by 5:00 (we couldn’t.) Never reached anybody all day, so booked online anyway and noted that.
A friendly host called after booking and said no worries, we could do self-check-in after 5. He gave us lots of info about our stay and the village. Definitely a helpful human touch you don’t get with bigger hotels.
They take care of a lot of stuff on the whole inn and store complex, so don’t worry if you can’t get ahold of them before booking; they’ll take great care of you after.
A few things that set this hotel apart:
* Beautiful flowers and shrubs to greet you
* You can park really near your room
* Drapes closed tight at center and walls
* Unlike many hotel rooms, this one had plenty of light to read by.
* Spacious walk-in shower with artistic tile and a bench to set things on
* A mix of beautiful new-build and vintage-inspired touches like bull’s-eye woodwork
* A real rug by the shower
* Inside room entry but also doors from first-floor rooms onto porch
* Porch rockers and side tables
* Peaceful view of lake (watch the mist drifting over it at sunrise)
* King suite had separate little sitting room.
* For breakfast, a short beautiful walk to Head’s Store and the best breakfast burritos
* Trails right there to walk or bike
* It seemed so like being guests at a house that we hardly felt like we needed to keep our door locked every second if we just ran out for a minute to our car, porch or the lobby
This is your place for a rest & recharge or a romantic outing. If you can stay 2 weekday nights, check their website under “Rate Options/Midweek Escape”
My family and I had a wonderful stay this past weekend! The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
This place is a slice of heaven right outside of St. Louis. First class accommodations and service. The property is so peaceful and can get away from the hustle and bustle. The owners and management team are top notch. Recommend a stay hands down.

After 3 or 4 stays I can say with confidence that The Inns at St Albans is the absolute best place to stay west of St. Louis. Gorgeous setting, impeccably maintained, luxury accommodations and reasonable price... what more can one ask for? Book with confidence!

Had a great day with Chelf Ted, Rachele, and Dave with good tips on grilling. Felt very welcome. The food was excellent and the drinks refreshing!”

I will only speak to the food, and Chef Ted is truly deserving to be executive chef. We had a 5 course dinner at the Old Barn Inn with wine pairing, and the food and drinks were wonderful. I'd never had escargots served in-shell! The French onion soup was one of the best I've ever had, and the fish with lentils was so refreshing. The fish and beef Wellington dishes were both so good--every part of them. And to finish it all off, the chocolate tart was rich, decadent, SO chocolatey (in the best way), and paired with creme brulee and sparkling rose. This was a fantastic meal.
We really enjoy going out to their events! We haven't stayed in any of the rooms, but always appreciated the hospitality!

We've photographed wedding for over 14 years and LOVE working at the Inns at St Albans. Not only is it a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding but the staff do such an amazing job of taking care of our couples!

Last year we got married at the Old Barn Inn at the Inns at St. Albans. Overall the day went along very well, but there were specific items that we paid for that they didn’t do which frustrated me greatly. We opted for a wine pour at the beginning of dinner and they didn’t put glasses out and we’re not very accommodating/lied and told us that we opted for the crush bar (when we didn’t). We also ordered late night snacks and the placement of the snacks was so far away from everyone that nobody even knew that they were there. Kinda crazy to pay $1000 for toasted ravioli and have all of your friends say that they didn’t even know there was any.
I recently hosted a baby shower here in the Garden Pavilion and faced one too many challenges with communication and accommodation to give this more stars. It seemed like they were making up policies on the spot and finding ways to charge more money. One example was the contract stating we could approve a layout, but the Event Sales Manager not letting us move tables around or have the bar outside at the actual physical bar space (which did not have food on it during the event as she said it would). None of this was mentioned upfront and the tour was pretty misleading -- there was a whole third of the space not mentioned that was available to us. I went back to watch my video to be sure. I had a coordinator step in last minute to help because it was really frustrating and she said I was being taken advantage of; that it seemed like they were new at this. :-/ We ended up having to bring in our own tables and chairs. Really disappointed. Gave it two stars because the property itself is gorgeous and St. Albans is an adorable community.

Best wedding venue.
My wife happened on this hidden gem while searching for a quiet place to for us to celebrate my birthday weekend. After several emails and phone calls with Schuyler the GM, she picked the Lodge as our destination and scored. First off St. Albans is an absolutely beautiful drive just out of the hustle and bustle of St. Louis County and the Chesterfield area. If you route yourself just right you will enjoy some of the most scenic travel this area has to offer passing by sprawling ranches and homesteads that are simply breathtaking. Upon our arrival at the Lodge we were greeted by the nicest staff who answered questions, pointed out the amenity's and even walked us to our room. The first night we enjoyed the Porch Party at the Head Store for live music and top notch food and service for dinner. Quite honestly this may have been the absolute best pot roast I have ever tasted in my life! The folks at the Head Store are beyond friendly and accommodating (just like everyone else at St. Albans). Another great thing about St. Albans is that everything is an easy stroll to get to and from adding to its charm, warmth and I dare say personality. Our room at the Lodge was incredibly comfortable and spacious with doors that took us right out to the large, welcoming front porch where we enjoyed comfortable rocking chairs and a table that first night after dinner for Margarita's, music and a terrific view of the lake. On our second day we enjoyed breakfast at Head Store and then a hike up St. Albans trail to the cemetery then back down to the gardens, Post Office and Cottages followed by a 2 mile hike out in Engelmann Nature Area. Our trip to St. Albans and our encounters with its staff the residents and the other guests was absolutely what we needed to unplug, unwind and relax. We will be going back without a doubt and we can't thank Schuyler and the Team enough for their attention to detail and their attention to their guests. Trust me when I say that Schuyler and his Team are completely engaged!
A beautiful day outside and a lovely setting.. the band was good and the drinks were cold
I was lucky enough to stay in the brand-new Lodge with my two children for one night. We had a Double Queen room, and it was so spacious and beautiful, with the floor-to-ceiling views of the lake. Everything was great, and we had such a peaceful, relaxing experience. The two young ladies who were staffing the desk and helping me for check-in and check-out, in addition to answering other questions during my stay, were so friendly and helpful and kind. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon
