Visiting our daughter and her fiancée for Thanksgiving and we wanted to find a taphouse with some comfort food on a snowy afternoon. Schlafly’s Bankside was a perfect choice. We did some fried pickles and four of us shared the full beer flight (16 5oz pours). If there’s Shepherd’s Pie on the menu, I’m ordering it. Hearty, delicious and filling - just what I wanted!

Parking: Street parking limited. Large parking lot a block or so away

Went in at 630 pm with a 10pm close time. No line. No people waiting. Lots of open tables and was told by hostess taking no more tables tonight. Asked close time and mentioned it was 4 hours before closing with no line. She giggled and said well that is what we are doing. Ok moved on. Good luck doing business with this as your store front person.

I would caution against visiting anytime around a holidays at this time even with a reservation right when they open because they had immense difficulty keeping up. One server for a very large party and then several other tables were sat and we all waited nearly 40 minutes to place our drink and food order. Thankfully they were ready to take the food order with our drink order because who knows when we would have seen our server again. Server came by once to take our order and once right before we were ready to leave nearly an hour and thirty five minutes after we arrived for one refill and to take care of the check at our request. Again, I understand it was Black Friday and they did what they could with the staff they had, but it was a disappointing birthday lunch with no apologies given whatsoever. Food was at least decent and they had a nice beer selection. I would potentially consider returning at a less busy time of the year to give it another try.

This place has consistently disappointed us three years in a row, but this last visit was the worst by far. Our family has made it a tradition to visit Main Street on Black Friday, enjoying the shops and grabbing lunch. Unfortunately, this restaurant let us down again—and this time, it was beyond unacceptable.

We came in with a group of 15, including kids, and were initially told they could accommodate us by clearing an adjacent table. Half of our group was seated, but then the manager decided not to clear the table, stating they were preparing to put up Christmas decorations instead. On top of that, they informed us that the rest of the restaurant was reserved for reservations. This was baffling since we had already tried calling ahead and attempting to book a reservation online, only to be told reservations weren’t available.

When we politely asked a bartender for guidance on what we should do next, she was incredibly rude, saying, “It’s not my problem.” This level of customer service is appalling. Not only did it leave kids upset and hungry, but it forced us to leave and scramble for another option.

For a restaurant on Main Street, open on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, this behavior is unacceptable. I strongly caution anyone considering dining here. This place needs serious intervention—save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

Second time visiting....I had the same table as 2 years ago. The food is still excellent, the service is as if you were part of the family. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Disclaimer: I didn't come here for beer, so ignore my review if that is what you care about most.

I ordered the ribeye. It's close to 30 dollars, and I have to say, it was probably the worst 30 dollar ribeye I've ever had. Now, don't get me wrong. The steak was still good (although they literally did not season it at all), but I won't ever get it again.

Also, I wasn't the biggest fan of our waiter. He wasn't rude, but he radiated general annoyance, and it was clear that he didn't want to be there.

Honestly, if you're on Main Street and can only pick one place to eat, I wouldn't suggest that you pick here. Again, its not bad, but there are other places (i.e. salt and smoke or Tony's) that will be a better experience.

Parking: There is also a lot close to main street with tons of parking. Search the Louis and Clark boathouse and you will find thr lot.

While sitting at the bar my husband and I watched a cockroach crawl across the bar. I went and told the waitress and her response was “oh ya, we are getting the building sprayed for them…they are bad” and she walked away from me. Really????
We definitely weren’t going to order food knowing they are infested with cockroaches! Safe to say we will never go back.

This is a unique restaurant in a historic old building in downtown St. Charles, MO. It has a nice bar area. The food is really good. Recently, I've been here two separate times. I've had a club sandwich and chicken caesar wrap with fries. They were all very good. The fries were hot. I'd get either of them again.
