Shay's Creole Smokehouse (Hosted by The Millstream)

My husband brought me here as a surprise. I’m from Louisiana and always missing food from home. I had the red beans and rice and it was really good. Nicely seasoned and an appropriate serving size. Definitely will visit again.

Food was excellent, Sarah was a wonderful server! We had a variety of items and each was better than the previous! The smoked bread pudding with caramel sauce is to die for!

We were on our way to Salt Smoke after a day or shopping for a car. (Bleh) And saw this wonderful little place on the way. It smelled so good! Much better then the smell of dank weed in the used cars weed been test driving. Sat where we wanted. Staff was amazing. They didn't try to sell us a car which was a nice change of pace. The food was delicious. They have a pick-two meat entree with two sides. I got pit beans and potato salad which I haven't had since I moved here from Georgia. It was a wonderful ending to a fruitless day. Will drive the 30 mins to eat here again. 5 stars.

Good food but TERRIBLE wait staff!!!! Don’t sit outside if you want to be served! We wait for 25 minutes before we went to get our own drinks, 45 minutes before to get our own food , and an hour and 15 minutes before our saying our bill at the bar.

I'll start this review off by saying: I will judge an establishment's food by how good the leftovers are the next day... Shay's food was delicious the next day STRAIGHT OUT OF THE FRIDGE!!! It was so good that I could not wait for the microwave to warm it up... I woke up and had to put it back in my face immediately!!

I got a variety of Shay's offerings for mine & my sister's birthday party. We got the brisket, chicken, pit beans, beans & rice, mac'n'cheese, creole corn, potato salad and some extra bbq sauce. Every bit of it was AMAZING!!
The love Shay puts into his food was undeniable and there is a taste of it in every bite.
I can not recommend visiting Shay's Smokehouse enough!! ???

(And if you are wondering how spicy it is, being that it's creole/cajun.. no worries... Shay puts the yum in without buring your face off!! But be sure to ask about certain dishes if you are spicy-challenged)

Shay’s Creole Smokehouse caught our eye as we were walking past the restaurant….burn’t ends special. Best most tender smoked meat that we have ever had! The Burn’t Ends and Brisket Dip were very moist, fork tender and flavorful. The homemade desserts were smoked cheesecakes and bread pudding with homemade caramel sauce. Wonderful! Owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We definitely will be returning.

This place was so good. Staff was very personable, food was mouthwatering. I got the sliced brisket sandwich, absolute best I’ve ever had.
I’d give 100 stars if I could.

I stopped for a night in St Charles with my family on a road trip from Tulsa to Milwaukee. We walked into town, hungry & with an open mind. After seeing everything that was available we opted for Shay's. We could not have been happier with our choice. I had smoked pastrami & brisket with green beans and side salad. It was sooooo good! My kids had pulled pork sandwiches that were also very good. The beer selection could not be better and the mixed drinks were on point as well. The staff were all very friendly and the chef came out to ask how our food and experience was. When we got the bill I was very happy with the prices based on the quality of food and the service. We will definitely come back if we end up in St. Charles again.

Great place for a date night, loved the atmosphere! I had the Cuban pork sandwich and my wife had the brisket chili; Fried okra, creole corn and fries for our sides. Awesome food, Shay himself brought out the food and later checked in to see how it was. We will definitely be back!
