We as humans use appearances to judge others’ social positions and personal qualities. But matters of appearance are different for men and women (Clarke). Overtime, women have become prized for their appearances and having the “perfect body.” Paulina Porizkova, a former model, wrote a reflection of her life , and how it related to this belief.“Turns out, when compared with perfection, all of us will fail. But it also turns out that perfection is boring.”(Porizkova). When attending a fashion show, she described how it seemed each model was a copy of another. “It was almost as if an Instagram filter — one that conjured large, slightly tilted eyes, tiny noses, plump lips and perfect skin — had blanketed the show and spawned 20 perfect copies”(Porizkova).
