They really care about your experience and have such a family atmosphere. Sat for 30 minutes AFTER it was supposed to be ready to be picked up. Was told specifically the two bundles sitting there when I arrived were not mine. Another lady joined me on the bench waiting for her order. Finally, the girl behind the register wandered out and called the numbers on the orders already there... And my phone rang. I refused the cold order and walked out. I hope the other lady did the same.
Suggest you don't order take out from El Nopal. Their system is unapologetically chaotic and ineffective.

The first time I came I ordered the carnitas and it was delicious chips and salsa are fresh and tasty, margaritas are great! Came a second time ordered the combo plate with a chile relleno, and a tamale. It's a pork tamale with very little pork in it and also covered in ground beef which I thought was odd. The chili relleno is not a chili at all it's more like a queso casserole that consists of ground beef white melted cheese and is not good. I would come back again and get the carnitas but not sure I would try anything else based on this last time ordering.

We have been going here for years and tonight was the last time!! I ordered 2 beef chimichangas with ground beef (for pick up), something that I order every time. My son said the lady that gave him the food was really nice. When I opened our meals I was surprised to see 3 half pieces! It wasn't the 2 smaller sized chimis that usually come with the meal. I called and spoke with what I would assume was the manager. He went to ask the kitchen what happened and he tried to tell me that this was common practice with ground beef. (Never had the before here) He also was trying to convince me that he was not ripping me off. He told me thay he couldn't credit my card but he did offer me a $10 gift certificate (total for meals was $26) or he could have the food remade and I could come pick it up. I explained to him that I would take the $10. He then backpedaled and started arguing with me, after he told me he didn't want to argue with me. I repeated that I was happy to come and pick up the g.c. and he continued to talk over me. I have to say, I am so disappointed! My family always tries to support small businesses but this is one business that we will never frequent again!! It seems to me that they are shrinking their portions and charging the same amount.

Not good. The guacamole was brown. We ordered El Nopal takeout tonight, and I am not going back for a while. I ordered no beans, all rice, and they got that wrong.
Very good. Hubby and I had the Cassandra special which was shrimp, steak and chicken over rice covered with cheese. It was amazing. Not sure how we've never eaten here before!! You have to try this place if you are ever in st. Louie. Margaritas were awesome too. Very well balanced!!
