Constant noise from poor sound insulation between rooms. Hard to sleep. Overpriced.
The Landing is a wonderful family-owned business and a gem in Southeast Missouri. They are perfectly located on the Current River in Van Buren, Missouri. I grew up local and have used their float services more times than I can count. The float is scenic and a fun day on the water is always made easy by their preparedness and friendly staff.
I am not currently reviewing a fun summer day though. My family and I were in desperate need of a venue appropriate for a celebration of life for my father. He was a dedicated family man and lifelong outdoorsman. Fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping were all passions of his. We had spent a great deal of time on the river and couldn’t think of a more perfect venue.
Andrew Bedell and his family went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were met with warmth and openness to our needs. He was consistently kind. Planning with him was straightforward and clear. He was the utmost professional and organized. He was always responsive, which was a relief as I was planning from out of town.
Ultimately, the service and dinner could not have gone better. We hosted the event in The Blue Heron, the on-site restaurant, which has a stage, sound system with microphone, screen, and picturesque view. Andrew himself helped us set up the morning of. He put a lot of work into making sure this day was what our family needed it to be, even helping us troubleshoot some technical difficulties on our end. The food at The Blue Heron is always delicious and this was no exception. Andrew helped us tailor a menu for the event and the food and service exceeded our expectations.
Our guests from Chicago who stayed at the hotel mentioned more than once the accommodations being clean and well put together and the friendliness of the staff.
Truly, my family and I could not be more grateful to share a community with the Bedell family and The Landing. I always recommend my family and friends who are in the area make time to visit and take a float trip. For those of us local to the area, show The Landing your support. They deserve it.
Great location right on the river. Clean rooms and friendly staff
I can't say enough good things to fit in thos tiny space. This place should be on everyone's bucket list.
If you’re looking for a couple day gateway, this place fills that bill nicely! The rooms are simple, more than adequate and most importantly, clean. The restaurant on site (The Blue Herron) has great service, very tasty meals that are well proportioned and a very hospitable staff. Check out the nearby business if you need anything. Chances are good you’ll find what you need.
Amazing steak chef
The prices for a large group could be better but everyone was very kind. The trip was wonderful. No issues
I don't know about the rooms. This review is about the landing restaurant. It was very good, priced a little high, ambiance was bad..due to ongoing construction.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. Room offers a larger than a normal hotel refrigerator. The service is outstanding both for the lodging as well as for floating... seriously, check in hand they handle the logistics to float. Please order the ribeye from The Blue Heron? It is the best steak I've EVER had! They have a chef that has been there 25 years and the proof is on the plate. The pork chops were also beautifully prepare+ moist and tender with lots of flavor.
The staff here are wonderful! Float was fun!! The front desk ladies were very welcoming and went above and beyond to help with all of our needs. The only downside was the outdoor chairs, which unfortunately had mold on both the cushions and the wood. We were moved to another room, but it had a similar issue.
I also think they could improve by providing higher-quality pillows and linens. The pillows were very firm and uncomfortable, and the sheets looked worn out. Out of all the float trips we’ve been on, this one had the most patrols by far.

15/10 stars. Thankful there wasn’t a sighting of Shane Ferguson. SUPER professional operation! Will certainly come back for years to come, given that Shane doesn’t work there.
Think before taking your family on this river. There is tree debris all over and we got caught in a terrible thunderstorm with hail pounding on us. The current slammed us into a big fallen tree, and there was no one around to help. Thank God we only had minor injuries
My first time back to Current River after about 20 years! Me and my best friend drove down to go for a float and had a blast!! We didn't stay over, so I don't know anything about the rooms, but the service was great!! We were set up for our float quickly, the guys helped us get our cooler and everything in, and helped us when we got back! It was a great day! 😁
Great place to relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery. Great restaurant on the property. Would have 5 stars, we just wish there was a little more to do after the float trip, and things for kids to do more like a playground, volleyball court, basketball, etc.
The staff go above and beyond keeping us safe Shout out to the girls in front
