I stopped by during their birthday week to pick up an order and was a bit disappointed with the taste of the food. It used to be much better, so I’m not sure what changed... maybe they were just having an unusually busy night. That said, with a 15% surcharge on pickup orders, I would expect more consistency in quality.
I’ve also noticed that some of the staff tend to stare when we visit, which feels a little uncomfortable. I’ve had a similar experience at Telva as well, so I’m not sure what that’s about.
I’ll probably give it another try before giving up on the place. It’s not extremely expensive, but it’s also not cheap enough to justify inconsistent food quality.

Wow! What an operation. I had been hearing about this place for years and it really delivered.
This food has a close place to my heart, having lived in several countries where you can get lahmacun and doner from casual street vendors. For those unfamiliar with the cuisine, they are very descriptive both on the menu and in person.

We had an incredible experience at Balkan Treat Box. My expectations were high and they managed to exceed them. We always order a lot of food to sample the menu and most places have items that are better than others. At Balkan Treat Box we ordered 3 entrees and 2 desserts and it was all equally incredible. The quality of ingredients is spectacular, and the spices and flavors are blended masterfully together. This has easily rocketed to the top of my list of must visit places when we come to St. Louis. I plan on stopping here every time we come to the city.
