Best carrot cake in St. Louis

Can't say anything about the food, but tried going in twice and it just smells old. Like an old library or something. How can a cake shop not smell like baking?

What a gem to stumble upon! I never would've known about Cravings had it not been for an afternoon stroll through Webster Groves and a mad hankering for something sweet. There was a sign saying that it was takeout only and the venue was empty on a Saturday afternoon, but it was filled with a lot of beautiful cakes. I believe I got to witness the legend Tim Brennan himself handle some orders. Service was friendly, although the guy who was helping us out didn't seem to be too familiar with all of their offerings; I don't even blame him, as there are a lot of goodies on their menu with quite the specifications. I found the prices to be very fair. I tried their meyer lemon cream puffs and their mini Baileys heart cake. I actually asked for plain cream puffs, but I'm a fan of desserts with hints of lemon so I won't complain. I didn't love that the box they came in was so frozen inside, but the desserts themselves were tasty. I can only imagine they would've tasted so much better fresh. The Baileys heart absolutely met my expectations; the flavors were perfect and it wasn't too sweet. It was just a higher cream-to-cake ratio, and I would've loved for it to be a more even split because the cake was so light and fluffy. My partner ordered their tray of cinnamon rolls, which were a pretty good deal. His feedback was that he couldn't quite nail the reheating instructions and they came out hard every time, but he genuinely enjoyed them as is without any reheating. So many options, will definitely be back for more in the future!

This was a really nice restaurant. I enjoyed reading the history of it. The food and service were both good.

Though I've never been inside, I can attest to the quality of their food. I've worked at Dewey's Pizza for close to 3 years, during which we've offered slices of Cravings' carrot cake on our menu. Nothing compares to theirs; the cake is moist, dense, and full of flavor, and the icing has just the right amount of sweetness! Their carrot cake will ruin all other carrot cakes for you! After learning that Dewey's will soon be switching over to another bakery, I was devastated. I guess I'll have to go to Cravings' now to get some, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing! :)

I ordered brownies from there many years ago. Everyone who ate them wanted to know where they came from because they were so delicious.

We hired Tim and his team to cater our post elopement celebration and everything was perfect. All of our friends talked about how wonderful the gourmet food, desserts and specialty cocktails were. Tim was very collaborative with us from the beginning and helped us edit our menu to make it just right. There is no need to shop around, just go ahead and hire Cravings for your next event. You will not be disappointed.

This USED to be a gem but wow how times have changed. We stopped by after not having the hazelnut zuccoto for years, a James beArd award winner, and when we ordered 4 pieces, they were given to us from the back in individual pre-wrapped boxes (cling wrap around them). Interesting. Even more interesting was the price of each piece...$10! I mean I get inflation and cost but WOW. Then, we get home and the pieces are half the size we feel like they were at one time AND the cake part was dry. No more zuccoto in our lives. Back in the day it may have been a challenge to find a bakery of this caliber in St. Louis but that certainly isn't the problem anymore, thankfully!

This is my favorite pizza place. Their staff is thoughtful and responsive to each detail. It's kid-friendly. And the food quality is excellent. I highly recommend!

Ordered cake for a birthday. Website states all cakes are 4 layers and a 9 in cake will serve 20-24 people. I had someone else pickup the cake for me. Unfortunately there was no writing on cake. Also cake was 2 layers and 7 in diameter. It was more on the order of a torte not a cake. I called the owner who informed me they now do “cafe” cakes- 2 layers and due to COVID no one orders for the larger size. I suggested the website be changed he offered a $5 credit saying well you ate the cake. This man is crass, rude and treats his customers with little regard to future patronage. The party was to celebrate a 92 year old birthday Go anywhere else but here.

Now this is also what I call a restaurant that can be geared for birthdays as well, It's a restaurant and a bakery. Now if you get the chore of picking up the cake but can't drive, this place is served by MetroBus route number 56.

I have been to two Food & Wine pairing events and I’m so glad I discovered Cravings. The desserts are fantastic (Tim changed my opinion on scones completely...I love the scones here) and the entrees also are creative and combine flavors in a unique way. Highly recommend for good food.
