Disappointing experience at Cyrano’s Cafe to say the least. We hadn’t been to this place in like, 10 years minimum. So when we stepped in for lunch, we were hoping for the same stellar service and food from back in the day.

Boy oh boy has this place changed. No longer is the charming ambiance, attentive staff and delicious offerings. Cyrano’s is now a place where you wait 30 minutes to get a refill for your drink, while you wait for your $20 burnt sandwich.

We arrived at 3:00 and the hostess said, “Oh, our kitchen is behind. You should be able to order at 3:15 at the latest. Our server came, got us drinks, then disappeared into thin air. It took us asking multiple people where she was for her to reappear.

We were finally able to order at 3:41. We should have just left. We ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders for an appetizer. Those, I must admit, were seasoned pretty darn good. However, when our entrees arrived, at 4:02, they were burnt to a crisp. See photos below.

Would I come back? An astounding: no. What has happened to this place? Who knew you could unintentionally have a two hour lunch because the staff don’t know what they’re doing…

What a terrible experience I’m not sure what’s happening, but this place has gone extremely downhill. The service was absolutely terrible. We came in at 3 to eat lunch and they told us that “our kitchen” will not be ready till 3:20 Well it took till 3:45 to be able to order and our food was absolutely nasty burned chewy and tasted old. Nothing was good and we will not be back Everything between service and food quality has gone down since 10 years ago.

Chicken tenders were phenomenal. However both of our sandwiches were burned. Server did not care. 49 min wait to order as well.

Really disappointed. We used to go here bi-annually with our huge group of friends for their birthdays. We spent hours ordering drinks and talking and frankly I looked forward to it every year. This year was ruined.

A waitress spilled an entire tray of drinks (including hot coffee) on my friends child. My friends child is also on the spectrum. After 20 minutes of trying to cool his skin with burn cream and aloe and whatever they had in a first aid kit - it wasn’t working. He was in so much pain and inconsolable. The evening ended for us friends.. while they rushed him to the ER. My friends child suffered from 1st and 2nd degree burns and was wrapped like a mummy. When we friends stuck around to ask for their insurance or forms for an incident report, they gave us a managers card.

Come to find out weeks later, they aren’t taking responsibility for what happened. They aren’t paying for our friends medical bills. (Our friends were just going to leave it at that - however cyranos chose not to take responsibility for their employees actions. And now they have to hire a lawyer to sort it out.)

I have no idea the extent of bills and hospital visits for my friends. I did however take my daughter to a salon to get her hair and nails done before. While this is small and not a big deal in highsight. (The salon experience alone was fun for my daughter and I, but I dropped $95 and they caked her hair in hairspray. The experience alone wasn’t worth the money, her pillow and bedroom got a good view of her hair..) they have no idea the ramifications of their employees actions on the entire group of friends. Some of our friends hired sitters (I wish I would have - I dragged my baby and preschooler through that mess)

Unprofessional to say the least. As a business owner myself, always always always mend bridges. They lost some serious business form our entire group of friends.

We came for brunch. The service was slow and not that great. The breakfast food quality has to be from the lowest priced food vendor around. My bacon, eggs, sausage meal was the quality of the lowest end chain restaurants that offer a blue plate special. There were 8 in our party and 4 of us ended up with severe stomach issues for the rest of the day (I personally, barely made it home). The eggs were gelatinous, bacon had zero flavor and the sausage is simply prepacked frozen patties. We ordered an eclair to take home (Cyranos is known for their desserts). Whoever packaged it, put in a round, thin container, chopped up. This is not appropriate. I will not eat here again. Something has changed, either the service, food quality, staff, kitchen conditions, or all of the above. Take your chances if you want to.

I have been going here for years but last night was so disappointing. 1st the serive was not great. Always out of water. The server apologized and said they were shorthanded. Everyone said their food was nothing special just ok. I always get the beet salad and it had no taste this time. But the worst part and what we came for was dessert. No one’s dessert had any flavor! Carrot cake had little carrot and there was no taste at all in the Icing. Key lime pie it was disappointing, I got the bread pudding, which I always get an absolutely love but this time it was just soft bread with three raisins. It was nothing like what I always get. Sad to say we probably won’t be going back. The atmosphere is cute but very loud and you had to yell to have a conversation.

Brunched at Cyrano’s with STL Ladies Brunch and it was fabulous from start to finish.

🥂 Drinks: The Empress 75 is my new obsession — a gorgeous lavender champagne cocktail that’s just as delicious as it is photogenic. Refreshing, light, and a little fancy in the best way.

🍳 Food: I had the Eggs Florentine — poached eggs, avocado, and spinach layered over a waffle (yes, a waffle!) with rich hollandaise. It was indulgent, satisfying, and came with perfectly crispy potatoes. Our table also loved the French toast and lattes, so you can’t go wrong here.

✨ Atmosphere: The vibe is warm, lively, and eclectic. Indoors feels cozy and buzzing with energy, while the patio is perfect for soaking up sunshine and sipping cocktails. Great for groups, brunch dates, or anytime you want food + vibes that deliver.

💡 Tip: Come hungry and don’t skip a cocktail — the presentation alone is worth it.

Definitely adding Cyrano’s to my St. Louis brunch rotation.

I really like Cyrano's Cafe! I've been several times over the years, and they have great food. I also love the ambiance of the restaurant. The decor is super cute and very artsy. It is sort of expensive, so I don't get here super often, but I enjoy it when I do get to come!! Highly recommend and of course I plan to come back!!

This place is a total vibe. I come here when I just wanna unwind and enjoy some delicious food and great service. I absolutely love the turmeric tea and their bread pudding. I was at fresh strawberries. I’ve never had a bad server or experience here.

Great food, especially the seafood ravioli! Prices are in line with the size of the servings. The service/wait staff was great. The only downside was that it was loud. I will go back!!
