I've eaten here twice now. I think I had hash browns the first time, but that was over a year ago and now I don't remember! Ahh. Yesterday I got ice cream. FYI, the menu lately is a bit limited to ice creams and soup/chili. Not sure why. But the gas station one building over has some meat sandwiches. That wasn't helpful to me, as I'm a vegetarian, but the ice cream was good! My companion had Tiger Tracks and really liked it. I had chocolate (I'm so basic). Friendly staff. Worth checking out the museum, but that probably has its own Yelp page.

They only serve chili or soup with warm corn bread. Wasn’t exactly what I wanted on a hot summer day but it was homemade and good. They have hand dipped ice cream for cones or cups and homemade cobbler. The elderly lady that waited on us wasn’t very friendly. Retro vintage decor.

We tried to stop for lunch and the sign on the door said Soup and chili only. We passed.

I am a Black woman who was stopped on the side of the road for bad weather. I pulled into this place and asked if I was welcome to stay for little bit until the highway cleared and she said yes. She scrambled me an egg with a side of bacon and coffee and it was all PERFECT. I talked to some local elders who were there having their usual coffee and they were really friendly. It can be scary to be a woman traveling alone on strange roads and having to exit "in the middle of nowhere" but this place felt safe! Highly recommend.

Heading west on I-70, I couldn't resist the billboards touting "Boots,Bullets, Britches and Baloney. Only a 1/2 mile North of the exit...this store had amazing merch. HUGE selection of Carhatt and plenty of other high quality outdoor clothing and gear. Plus baloney and cheese on white bread for $1. Best deal I've had in a while. Really liked this place and the service from 4th Gen Crane family members.

Marlene's is in a Missouri town with 6 buildings just of I70. In operation since the early 2000s, it is a great piece of Americana. Inexpensive generous portions. Is the food gourmet- no. It is like home cooking. They also have ice cream by the scoop and the restaurant is in the middle of a museum with thousands of interesting items, some dating back to the 1800s. Just give it a try and enjoy!

Great food and friendly service! Right off the highway. Neat, nostalgic place to eat. Loved it!

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. The place had been recommended by an employee of a winery about 15 miles away. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. Expect to wait a bit because each order is started when you order. The burgers are 1/2 pound but mine seemed like more ? There are NO FRIES on the menu and potato chips are substituted. Not a huge sacrifice for the quality of the food offered. I had the burger with bacon & cheese and my wife had a salad. She finished before me and spent the time looking at all the displays in the attached museum. No charge for wandering around! Lot of interesting items, see other reviews. NOTE: Marlene's has moved from the location shown on Google Maps in August 2021 .

After shopping at the 100+ year old outfitter next door, pop into Marlene's for a tasty meal and slice of pie or fruit cobbler. The Famous Williamsburger is sensational, with your choice of ingredients. I chose the Swiss and grilled onions. Would definitely eat here again.

We’re always looking for places to eat that are off the beaten path and Marlene’s did not disappoint! We were greeted by a couple of smiling faces and felt very welcome. Being in a little hurry to get home to Ohio, we decided on ham and cheese and beef/cheese sandwiches which were very good. Anxious to stop again and try the burgers!
