Guy at the door was awesome overly friendly lady at the register TERRIBLE so rude she came out of the employee kitchen door I asked her I’m sorry do you know if they have any more cottage cheese and she rudely said I have no idea and just kept walking she could have said I’m not sure let me get someone to help you but she sure didn’t mind leaving the register to go get her something to eat while I waited on her to come back with her food she wasn’t friendly at all I almost asked for someone else to check me out food and waitress were great cashier HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my first time to visit. The food was really good! I am a very picky eater but I was well pleased with the salad bar, whole catfish and sweet potato. All the other food I saw looked good too. We will be back!

Simmer Down is a nice place with a casual atmosphere. The food is great, especially the steak for two with salad bar, hush puppies, and fries. The service is excellent, with attentive staff. The wait time is short and the salad bar is well-stocked and delicious, offering a variety of fresh options. Popular and a bit loud, but that is to be expected. The Mahi Mahi and fried chicken sandwich were highlights, and portion sizes are generous. The decor is good, creating a welcoming environment. The only small negatives are that the lighting is a bit dim and they do not serve Texas toast or real butter for the baked potato, which some customers prefer. Overall, it is a great spot for a Friday night date night, definitely worth returning to.
