Walked right in. People were friendly. Server was nice but not really competent. Went without drinks after the first round, even though we asked for more. The food was tough, couldn't even cut it with a knife, mixed our bill up with another table. The server got offended when we explained this was not our bill. Went to pay and the cashier messed our card up and left something off and then got mad at us because she didn't see the item. Told us she was going to have to rerun our card for the entire bill. She did not know how to cancel the other charge. I tried to explain to just charge us for the one item but she said she can't do that. This is not the best place to eat.

Me, my wife & daughter stopped in tonight to have dinner. We were seated promptly and the waitress was very nice taking our order. She brought our salad bowls and I immediately got up and got my salad and came back to the table as my wife and daughter got up to go get there’s. I had no more got my fork out to eat my salad when a girl brought out our food. Me and my wife had ordered the steak for two and my daughter a kids steak. I’m all for fast service but dang we hadn’t even got to start on our salads. We just let our steaks sit while we ate our salads. When we finally got to the steaks my daughter’s kid steak was cooked perfectly med rare. But the steak for two was completely rare. Like not even remotely close to med rare. I flagged our waitress down and she immediately noticed it too without me saying anything. She took it back to be cooked more while we ate our sides. I HATE sending things back because I’m afraid I’m going to make someone mad. We had mostly finished our sides when we brought it back. Upon returning it looked like the steak had been drenched in some brown liquid that wasn’t there the first time. Not sure what that was but it did not smell good. The steak was at least cooked right now but my gosh did it taste awful! We couldn’t even eat it. We both tried to scarf down a few bites but it was so salty we couldn’t take it. The steak had a smell to it that as weird as this sounds smelled like a “barnyard”. It turned my wife’s stomach. We got a to-go box to take it back to our dog. The waitress was nice and nothing wrong with her but the steak was not pleasant in the slightest. I wanted to say something at the cash register but I was afraid they would think I was just trying to get my food discounted or something. It was not a good dining experience at all.

Simmer down went above and beyond with my birthday supper. We had a surprise celebration for 20 individuals. They were unable to assist with a minor miscommunication caused by technological issues (100% not their fault). They rearranged seating in the party room so that we could all sit together and the wait was minimal. They even made a special Simmer Down birthday shout out for me. Thank you so much, Simmer Down; 10/10 recommended!! The service and food are consistently excellent!

My husband and I went to Simmer Down for our first time tonight. When we got there the parking lot was full. We both expected to have to wait a while before getting a table, however to our surprise our wait was only 5 mins. The building is really nice with a warm cozy atmosphere. We were seated, and immediately greeted by our waitress Ashley, she was incredibly polite and friendly. We ordered sweet tea to drink. The tea was fabulous. We skipped an appetizer and went straight to ordering the steak for two dinner. Hush puppies were brought to the table as a complimentary treat. Our Steak dinner came with 4 sides. We both got the salad bar, and loaded baked potato. The meal all comes with a dinner roll or Texas toast. (We got the toast. The salad bar was great, everything was fresh and there were lots of different things to choose from. Our steak was cooked perfectly! Juicy, tender and seasoned wonderfully. We will definitely be back. Our dinner was only $42 (that’s before tax) and of course the tip we left. 10/10 definitely would recommend
Parking: The parking area is kind of small, gravel parking lot.
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, as well as a little ride on car and gum-ball machine.
Wheelchair accessibility: Side wheelchair accessibility
Our church retiree group went this evening and our waitress was top notch. The lady who did the birthday was fantastic. Good atmosphere. I did have to send my steak back because it was a little done but it was done gracefully and so good the second time. I recommend this restaurant.

The food was so good, it makes you want to slap your momma! They really get down in the kitchen for sure. I ordered the catfish dinner, and let me tell you, whoever is cooking it needs a raise. Chicago has good food, but nobody is doing it like Mississippi. Let me simmer down with all the hype, but the hype is real. The food deserves 5 stars!

Very nice place with casual atmosphere! The food was great! My husband and I ordered the steak for two with salad bar, hush puppies and fries! We were not disappointed! Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive! Definitely will be back! It's a bit loud but that's to be expected with all the people there!
