Decent BBQ for the location. Nowhere else to go for lunch if you work in the area other than greasy gas station food.IMO Hank’s gets the win in Lowndes county for best BBQ.

When I'm in town, this is my Customer's favorite food! This time I brought the food to the plant. i ordered Brisket, Pulled Pork, beans, potato salad, buns and 3-gallons of tea for (15). (14) showed up for lunch and it was great. Suggestions for Davey Jay's: Increase the amount of meats per person, and reduce the amount of beans, salad and sauce. Some might have had another sandwich, but the meat was gone. Also, throw some large serving spoons in with each tray of food. I bought paper and plastic-ware & cups separately because I was warned of the high cost Davey Jay's charges. These recommendations could increase business. Regardless; The food was great. Photo is of the leftovers. With tip and paper-plasticware it was about $20 per person.

We got word that Davey Jay’s BBQ & Catering (formerly Bob Roberts) recently expanded their operating hours in order to serve up some more good Southern 'Q, so of course, we felt the need to go verify it in person...just to make sure. Glad that we did, as they really know their stuff! They serve up all the traditional meats, from brisket to sausage to chicken and more, along with the sides you like, for eating on the spot, take-out, and as catering platters. They opened up under this new banner in October with the same staff and menu that has stood the test of time.I had the brisket, which was tender and juicy with just the right amount of fat on it; Bro had the baked chicken and a side salad, and he vacuumed those up like it was his last meal! We'll be back! The service is friendly, the joint is cozy and clean, and you get what you pay for. Please give them a try!

Parking: Huge gravel parking lot surrounds the building.

Wheelchair accessibility: Gravel lot, but the porch entrance next to the HC area has been graded to be even with the lot.

Bob Wiygul, founder of Bob Roberts BBQ at 599 W. Lowndes Drive, has sold the restaurant to Jason Brock. It is NOW Davey Jay's BBQ. Annnnd... THE PLACE was PACKED for lunch on 11, 7, 2023 when we found the NEW name on the door. GREAT PULLED PORK Nuff SAID!!!

Parking: Gravel, Crushed Granite (?) anywho ROCKY and that prevents speeding through parking spaces... a safety feature really!!!

If you didn’t get a turkey from Davey Jay’s BBQ’s you missed out. I believe it’s the best turkey we ever had. Thank you for a delicious turkey for Thanksgiving.
