This is a reservation only dining venue with fresh, local ingredients. The chef takes your order and immediately goes to the back to prepare it. White linen tablecloths, water pitchers, dim lighting, it's a great date night place. It is on the pricier side, but the food tasted amazing in return. This wouldn't be my go-to weekly, but I would see myself coming for celebrations. Check out their Instagram for updated menus as they constantly change. Reservation is via text message only.
I had their veal and it was wonderful. It was one of the nicest dining experiences I’ve had in quite a while.
I visit often and it is always excellent.
Had a date night here and everything was amazing! The food- from the house made bread to garlic shrimp and catfish to strawberry cheesecake for dessert,- service and atmosphere. It’s no surprise when you meet Beth Broussard, the chef, and her mother, Mary Broussard. The family clearly has a passion for their business and it shows through every aspect of their restaurant. Highly recommend!
Beth is a talented chef, and always accommodating. Family owned, great food, and the perfect place for a nice date or get together. I can't say enough good things about this place.
The best restaurant and bakery in Mississippi! The food is absolutely delicious (I highly recommend the Apple Turnovers) and the customer service is impeccable; from the moment you walk in until you leave, you are treated kindly and not as a number. I really appreciate that each food item is prepared with care; Chef Beth and the staff here is the best!
AMAZING! I have visited J. Broussards a few times, and it is always a treat. It is an intimate establishment with friendly service and individual care (the chef takes your order!).
The food itself is spectacular; her chicken schnitzel is honestly the best chicken I have ever tasted. Paired with their extensive wine selection and their house-made desserts, you can’t go wrong!
The menu changes fairly regularly.
My dish was undercooked and had an awkward taste to it. My wife's dish was really good. The service and atmosphere were great . It wasn't a wide selection on the menu.

I worked here as a busboy about 12 years ago as my very first job. I only lasted two full days. On my third (and last) day, I was fired by the FOH manager/mother. This was due to me mistakenly refreshing a guest's beverage away from the table at the drink station in the corner. This was very early in the dinner shift. The mother pulled me to the side and berated me for 1-2 minutes before telling me that I was "no longer required at this establishment" and had to collect my things and leave immediately. I don't think the kitchen manager/daughter even said a word to me the whole time besides the interview.
Even though this is my hometown, I have never ate there since and have told everyone I have known and met in Columbus about this place. Upon reading other reviews, it seems that the management is notorious for their lack of people skills.
The chef manager/daughter did provide a free, buffet style meal for the employees each shift. And the food is actually very good. So, props for that.

I really love the idea behind this restaurant. It’s unique and special. I peeked in at the bakery, which looked amazing unto itself. You have to make reservations (one of two evening time slots). Upon arrival and being seated, the chef’s mother takes your drink orders then brings your beverages, and the chef herself takes your order herself. They are wonderful and friendly and extremely efficient. Constantly filling your water glasses and asking if you need anything. The Elderflower Bee’s Knees, Bourbon Sidecar, bread & whipped butter, Caesar salad, dinner salad with ranch, Catfish & Grits, strawberry shortcake dessert, and chocolate cake were nothing short of impressive. How they pull off being casual yet fancy & classy really left an impression on me. I would love to come back here again some time, for sure. Great date night.

What a treasure, that we have J. Broussard's in Columbus! We moved here about a year ago and finally made a reservation for our anniversary and weren't disappointed. Service was excellent and food was outstanding. We will definitely be going back.
