Service was terrible. Managers were EXTREMELY rude and had a horrible attitude. If I could give 0 stars, I definitely would!

Awful experience. My husband got his food 20 minutes before the other 3 in our party. When the other 3 meals came out, it was missing the fries and hush puppies. Out waiter could not understand English, and the food was horrible. I'm never going back.

We began by sitting close to windows overlooking water. There were dead and dying flies covering the window sills and we ended up moving tables due to the nasty nature of the flies. When ordering we noticed that salad was no longer included with meal and came with up charge or no other sides. We had a party of 3 and 2 of us ordered fish and sides and one got chicken strips and salad. The salad bar was decently stocked but as I was getting my salad I noticed that many of the items had flies down in the food items: especially in the eggs. Our waiter did not come to check on us very often and had to be called over for items not received with meal or for drink refills. There was 1 couple and a lady (who when we left we noticed she had a small dog ? under her table)when we arrived. 2 more couples came in 1 ended up leaving before being served.
The fish tasted like it was battered with flour and cooked in rancid burned oil. Hush puppies were hard as rocks . Chicken tenders did not have any taste bread was left off plate. Very expensive meal when 90% of food was left on plates and inedible. The only way it could have been worse was if we’d gotten food poisoning, which praise God, we didn’t.
Also there were No soap or paper towels in the women’s restroom. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday so you would expect the restrooms to at least have the needed supplies!

Parking: Parking lot and drive has huge holes all through your it.

Ruben's is amazing definitely worth the drive from Alabama. We all ordered steaks which we agreed were cooked to perfection, flavorful, juicy and tender. I was impressed with the waiter's knowledge. When one member of our party requested their steak be cooked rare the waiter immediately asked if the steak should have a cold or warm center. This is not a question often asked by waiters at most steakhouses but details matter. One person in our party also ordered fried catfish as did a couple sitting at a neighboring table. They all said the fish was wonderful. The fried shrimp on other customer's plate caught my attention I will have to try them next time. The service was great, in addition to our waiter, two other people stopped by our table to check on us to make sure that we were enjoying our meals. Ruben's offers a salad bar and a good list of side dishes. We arrived shortly after they opened and about a third of the tables were already filled. When we left about an hour or so later all of the tables were full with customers. Many of the tables have good views of the Tombigbee river and boats going back and forth. The fact that this fish camp and steakhouse has been open for almost 70 years is a testament to the quality of their food and service which time has not changed. Some of the people sitting around us remember eating at this restaurant when they were children. Great, first time visit, I'm a fan!

Parking: Large parking lot.

Very expensive for small portions of food. Coleslaw was almost dry. Hush puppies over cooked. Won’t go back. Food used to be good several years ago… not now!!!

Frozen, rubbery mess. Kitchen staff was smoking. I know employees that work there and the things they say about the place will make you never eat there again.

Been eating here for decades and it seems like it's been on a decline for many years. Foods made it to the "ok" status and we're down to being served on styrofoam. It's a shame really.

Went there today for service and was treated poorly. We sat on the patio and had to ask for menus. Once preparing to order, i was rudely greeted by the bartender. Another customer asked her if they served food from the bar, and she replied, blatantly in my face as i had menus to order food, “we don’t here but we take orders up here and i hate it. It takes away from the bar”. They need friendlier staff. We were also informed that they were out of nearly everything we wanted to eat. So we got up and left. Definitely do not recommend.

This restaurant used to be great. It is still fairly clean except the salad bar. The salad bar used to have both half's running. Now they only fill one side. It used to be clean and fresh. It had 3 different kinds of cheese cubes. Tonight it had old looking lettuce mostly out of everything. No pickles no cheese two dressings. I had to not get as much as I wanted so that my dad would have some. We all got catfish. Whole catfish fried with various sides. They were out of coleslaw and onions. Who runs a catfish restaurant without having coleslaw and onions. Why could they not go to the grocery store and buy cabbage or precut slaw and onions?????? The catfish were bland and didn't really taste like catfish from Mississippi. Makes me wonder if they are buying from US Foods and not serving Mississippi grown catfish. Service was terrible. She missed the fact we all wanted salad, which should come with the meal anyway. I had to fix that with her. Then my sons cup came with a hole in the side. Instead of taking it she went to the back and brought another Styrofoam cup out and put the leaking cup in the new cup. She should have taken the leaking cup away from the table and brought a new cup of water. So since they didn't have coleslaw I got a baked potato and fried okra. The oakra was not good and I didn't eat it. The potato was curved like a banana. Quality of the food over all was not food. No pepper sauce on the table and no tabasco. Food was slow to come out but the check was pushed under my nose before I was finished eating. I will never eat there again.

In the past I have given them 5 stars but I don't plan to go back any time soon after our last visit. Food was not cooked properly. Fries were still half frozen, fried shirmp had husk still on them, grilled shrimp were rubber with a hard skin layer. They tried to give me a smashed and very small sweet potato, which I sent back. I can't remember everything that friends were having issues with but I do know, when you go to a steak and seafood place and walk out saying that a baked sweet potato is the only food item you liked after paying those prices. SOMETHING IS WRONG.
