I called 5x to see if there would be a wait for my spouse and I. Answered the phone twice and said hold on but never clicked over and didn't answer the other 3x. Waiter handled a table of 16 which he did ok but too many people in my opinion and chefs was awesome. Food was great but if you have a shell fish allergy then there isn't much to choose from.

Great place for gluten free sushi options
My family and I went here this weekend. While everything was good, I did find one thing that was very disturbing. We ate at the hibachi table. Beside us was a young man and his son. They were very friendly, and stated that it was their first time there. Side note that is important to my review is that they were black. This is important because the chief came out asked for everyone's order, then proceeded to talk to me and my family asking us a lot of small talk questions including if it was our first time there. I explained that we had been several times before, but that the young man and his son had not. The chief continued to make conversation with us, but never again acknowledged the man and his son. When he finally served us, it was quite clear that he also gave my family far more of the food. This kind of blatant racism and social division should not be tolerated.

I ordered beef fried rice and I got an order or about 75 percent rice and 25 percent onions. Raw onions, I am sick and usually this is the perfect sick meal but it was so potent with onions it was intolerable. I do not recommend
Service was great, I tipped well. Food was sub-par. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:00pm. It was very clear that the Shrimp fried rice we were eating was from the previous night. Rice was dry and tough, so was the shrimp. Rolls were freshly made but bland.

Whether we’re in Starkville or Columbus UMI’s is our go to place, whether we’re having a light lunch or want dinner and a show! We love it and the kids love it even more! The staff is always so wonderful, the chefs are awesome, and the food is delicious and we always leave with to go boxes and extra yumyum sauce. We’ve never had bad service or a bad meal at UMI’s.

There was a roach crawling out of my avocado salad.
Absolutely disgusting. After telling what I think was the manager or lead shift, she grabbed the bowl walked off quickly. Came back apologized, offered another and said it was comped off the bill plus discounted some of the rest of the bill. The server didn’t return until we had card out to pay & waiting.
I didn’t eat anything after the fact. That is absolutely disgusting. The whole bill should have been comped.
