This is my husband and I’s favorite Japanese restaurant for hibachi that we have ever been to. The food is so good I could cry. The hibachi chicken specifically is what we always got. We were TDY at Columbus AFB a few years ago and we still talk about this place all the time so I figure I might as well give it a review. We LOVED UMI!!!!! ❤️

The manager argues with customers even if the customer is right, and she has a horrible attitude. The servers/hosts are really sweet and always trying to be helpful. The food is good, if not great, but the restaurant needs better management.

I would not recommend the Starkville restaurant. I took my daughter there for her birthday. We waited over an hour and never got our food started. Other customers came approximately 20-25 minutes after we did and were served their food. We voiced our complaints. The manager on duty got frustrated and sent the server out to tell us that they could not serve us. Very unprofessional and the server was very rude! Worst experience ever…
Went for lunch great prices huge servings great flavor even the sushi was amazing. Our chef was Harry and he was so amazing, super sweet w the kiddo and funny. Cooked everything perfectly.

I usually love Umi's, but this time it wasn't as good as it has been on other occasions. Don't get me wrong...it was good, but not great. The portions here are definitely ample. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly. My only complaint is the chicken in my meal was overcooked. With that being said...I guess I'd rather have it be overcooked rather than under cooked. I'd still recommend Umi's to anyone wanting Hibachi.

The food was amazing as usual, but man they need to get rid of those covid forks and one wipe napkins and go back to real silverware and cloth napkins. For the money, they surely can afford it. (I had shrimp and scallops).
