My daughter and I visited Berry’s this past Thursday, and I can straight up say it touched us more than we expected. The moment we stepped inside, something in us settled. The Christian music, the encouraging messages playing on the screens, and the peaceful atmosphere created a feeling that is hard to put into words. It felt like a place where you could sit down, breathe, and let the world slow down for a moment. The food was unforgettable. The catfish had that perfect Southern crunch and flavor that reminded us of the way things used to taste when life felt simpler. The hushpuppies, the sides, everything on that metal plate tasted fresh and made with care. Even the old-school tin cup added a comfort that made the whole experience feel like home. What made the visit even more special was how we were treated. The staff showed a level of kindness that felt genuine. Not the kind you get because someone is doing their job. The kind that makes you feel welcome, seen and appreciated. My daughter mentioned it before we even got to the car. That meant something to me as a Dad. What stayed with me the most was the peace that settled over us while we ate. It was one of those rare moments where you can look across the table at your child and feel blessed and grateful. No rush. No pressure. Just a simple and beautiful moment between a father and his daughter that I will always remember. Places like this are rare. Berry’s is more than a restaurant. It is a place where your stomach and your spirit get fed at the same time. If you have never visited, make the trip. Whether you live close or hours away, it is worth experiencing for yourself. My daughter and I will definitely be going back Lord willing.

The food was decent. Buffet consisted of salad/soup bar, boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, fried pork chops, pot roast, fried catfish filets, southern sides and a desert bar I would call it a little above average. It is probably one of the only southern buffets I have ever seen that did not offer bone in fried chicken. That was a big let down. The Giant cross outside is not just for show. The whole restaurant is centered around the church. There is Christian Music playing throughout the restaurant and Christian Music videos and sermons on all of the big TVs. The waitress we had was very nice and attentive. All of the negatives would have been forgivable but then the ticket came. I was with a group so they charged gratuity. It was only $3. My ticket was $31 for the buffet and a sprite. FOR LUNCH!! That is highway robbery..

Lots and lots of fried soul food, pretty bland overall, VERY limited selection and flavor or character to set this place apart.. UNLESS you count the overwhelming white Jesus paintings everywhere. So very very much Caucasian Jesus. If you're into Xtian pop, paintings of prophets, and wildly (WILDLY!) overpriced basic buffet (almost $150 for 3 buffets & drinks?🤣), this is for you. (Despite the giant cross outside, I really wasn't expecting to feel like I was walking into a church that served food. I was surprised.)
Also, no vegan, gluten- or sugar-free options. Don't even ask. That got me a LOOK. 🤭 I guess they don't expect their regulars to invite guests who might have these dietary needs or preferences. 🤷♀️
