Half Shell Oyster House

I'm from Florida and have had some of the best seafood ever. This place is probably one of the top 5 I've been to. Phenomenal! Pricey, but worth every penny. Pro tip: Get the Red Fish Orleans with the cheese grits as a side and mix the grits on your plate with the sauce... it . will . blow . your . mind!

I came yesterday and Ordered Oysters and Gumbo . And was sick right after eating the Gumbo. The amount we paid the food should've been fresher and prepared daily. I am so disappointed. This is the first time I've experienced Food Poisoning. It was absolutely horrible.

I dined on a Tuesday @ 5:00 p.m., and ordered charbroiled oysters and a cup of gumbo. The waiter/waitress was inattentive, and only checked with us once after food was received (but I still left a 15% tip because maybe he/she was having a bad day). The food was not very tasty - the oysters were extremely small and I had to be extremely careful to NOT chew or swallow any of the oyster shells; the gumbo was quite tasteless. The best thing about the meal was the garlic bread.

The seat cushion in the booth where we were placed felt like the springs were about to burst through, and it was quite uncomfortable. It was noisy and it sounded like an argument was occurring in the kitchen! This was, by far, the worst dining experience I've had at any Half Shell! I even wrote a note on the receipt about the food, letting them know that although it was NOT good, I ate it because I was hungry and didn't want to waste my money...Oh yes, the meal was QUITE expensive and, I felt, overpriced! Won't be going back for a very long while, if ever!!

I’m an avid seafood and half shell lover. Cherry at the oyster bar is killing it. Love the menu changes like the jumbo crab cake. Puts locals to shame. Respectfully. They have new sauces. Very creative with their cuisine. I don’t care what anyone says this place has the best food and drinks in dogwood. Hands down. If you want roaches… go to Amerigo.

Sat for 39 minutes and NO ONE came to get our order. Wanted to have a great birthday dinner and it was horrible. Went to the Japanese restaurant after 45 of no service. Got our drinks but that's it. Nothing. I wanted the good food they offer but can't eat if no one gets your order. Never fo back. And a also never do these reviews

They do what they do very well. Tasty, yet creatively prepared, oysters. Always something different to try. Their monthly specials keep the menu fresh, while always having the regulars as well. Friendly eager service, they'll even make sure to hold the door for you just to go above and beyond.

Patronized this location while in the area last week and really happy I did. In town for work and all the locals highly recommended it. Had the Yellow Fin Tuna Dip and Orleans Oysters for an Appetizer and both were phenomenally good. The oysters were very well seasoned. For my entree i had the seafood pot pie which was recommended for a local. Some of the best food ive had in a while. 10/10 would visit again

From start to finish, our experience at Half Shell Oyster House was absolutely wonderful. My wife Kelly and I had the fried catfish with cheese grits and the sweet potato casserole, and everything was bursting with flavor. The catfish was golden and crispy, the grits were creamy and rich, and the sweet potato casserole was just the perfect touch of sweetness.

For drinks, I went with the Watermelon Splash — so refreshing and smooth — while Kelly enjoyed a Cosmo that she said was spot-on. Both were crafted perfectly.

And I can’t forget to mention our server — she was off the chain! Friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The kind of service that makes a great meal even better.

The food, drinks, and service all came together for a five-star experience. Half Shell Oyster House has definitely earned a top spot on our list, and we’ll be back soon. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
