The Hubs and I stopped by for lunch last week after hearing good things about this place. The place is charming and staff is very friendly. We were seated right away and our orders taken. We both got the chicken fried steak and two side veggies. I didn't care too much for the turnip greens because they were extremely Sweet, but, that's my preference. They serve steaks and other "fancy" foods for supper, so, we'll be back to try more.

Trying to find a place to eat on a Friday night with no wait is impossible but this place was available so we decided to try it. We decided on the ribeye with green beans and a baked potato for one entree and the crab cakes with veggies and sweet potatoes for the other. ( they brought us green beans instead, but did fix it when we mentioned it). The crab cakes were good but would have been great with a beurre Blanc sauce or something similar. The ribeye.. omg! AMAZING!! Like AMAZING AMAZING! Geez! Cooked to perfection! Now to explain the missing star... service was awful. Our waitress couldn't remember what we had to drink and we were literally the only people there. And we had to flag her down to get a refill. The baked potato was so extremely over cooked. I am guessing they were made earlier in the night and kept warm. Maybe the warmer kept cooking it?? Not sure, but it was not good. You can see from the picture how overcooked it was. The green beans were so good but I didn't feel that I should have to remove the vine? Is that what it's called? I couldn't figure out why they didn't cut these off. We will definitely try them again based on that steak. Maybe I can re-review and give them 5 stars

I ate the very best crab cake in my entire 69 years. 0 filler and fabulous taste. I paired it with filet mignon that you could cut with a toothpick, extremely tender. Pleasant decor lovely owners and friendly staff.I live 600 miles from here but pass thru Jackson 4 times a year. I'll eat here at least 4 times ayear

Great food at a great price! We ate at the filling Station with a group of six friends. This is an old hole in the wall gasoline filling station that has been converted to a restaurant. We tried to go to other restaurants that were in this location in the past but it was hit or miss whether the place was open. Fortunately now that it is the filling Station, it seems to be open more reliably. We were there on Saturday night. One in our party had the breadless crab cakes. The order came with three rather large crabcakes loaded with crab meat. I think I'll get that next time I go. My wife had the French dip sandwich and she liked it a lot. I had the pork chop with seasoned corn bread stuffing on top. It came with two boneless pork fillets; the second one had a flavorful sauce on it. That was worth getting, and I would get it again also. Two in our party got the fillet steak that was supposed to be 8 ounces but it looked like 6 ounces or less. Apparently it was well-prepared but a little skimpy on the portion size. The total bill for my wife and I was $32 before tip. Given the excellent food quality this price was about half what I had expected to pay. So for overall food quality and value I recommend the filling station highly. We will be back, and we will put this on our regular rotation of places to eat.

Went there tonight 07-13-18, was suggested by a friend who had heard that the steaks were worth the effort to make the trip. Probably one of the best steaks (filet) that I have encountered in the greater Tri-County area in some time. It was cooked perfect, tender beyond anything you can imagine, seasoned perfect. The side dishes were equally as good. Service was fast and friendly. Well worth trying again.

The owners are hands on with this family business and that is where the difference is. I have been looking forward to coming here and I was not disappointed. Support local small business and bring your family to The Filling Station for some great Southern food. Oh and save some room for desert. Heck start with desert and save some room for food.
