Had to go to this Delta treasure one more time before they close in May. Very grateful they are opening a new location in Taylor, Ms!

It's sad to see that lusco is finally gone. They had some of the best steak, fried shrimp, and fried onion rings you'll ever have in your life.

Stopped at Lusco's for dinner. Lusco's has been social distancing since the beginning of time. The restaurant has curtained cubicles for each dinning group. A buzzer on the wall beckons your waiter. It's like a step back in time. Rob our waiter was one of the best waiters I have ever had. The food was excellent. I missed getting entree pictures but enjoy the rest of the pictures. Anyone doing the blues trail should stop here for dinner.... reservations recommended.

Someone else's review said that as long as you come with the right expectation you will not be disappointed. I loved Lusco's -- but not for the food. It is a real local experience and unique. Lusco's was opened in 1933 and (in a good way) looks like it's never been updated. The entry room has a very eclectic arrangement of mounted animal heads, wild ducks, and miscellaneous stuff that definitely evokes another era if not a different world all together. There is an open dining room, but some of the tables are arranged in separate alcoves off a long dimly lit hallway. Each room has a table and is curtained off for privacy. There is a bell in each room that can be rung to summon a waiter. For the real experience be sure to ask for one of these alcove rooms. Mississippi has a long Temperance tradition and instituted a statewide Prohibition policy before national Prohibition was instituted and they continued statewide Prohibition for 30 years after it was repealed nationally. Lusco's is a nod to how people entertained themselves in a state where liquor was illegal. These curtained rooms developed during Prohibition when Lusco's served a "home brew". Now it is bring your own wine, beer or liquor, but they are happy to serve you. I thought the Gourmet Delight salad was a delight. It was excellent, crisp, nice assortment of lettuces, good dressing. Most of us had the Broiled Shrimp with Lusco's Shrimp Sauce. This was a bit of a puzzler to me. It is an unadorned plate of shrimp swimming in what seems to be a mostly butter sauce. I couldn't taste anything hot or vinegary about it. It was accompanied by a couple of slices of dried out Italian bread. I had a spinach souffle side which was fine. The shrimp, which they are famous for, just didn't catch my attention. But that's OK. They were good enough and I thoroughly enjoyed the authenticity of the restaurant. They really haven't messed it up by trying to modernize it. Which is wonderful. We stayed at the Alluvian Hotel and they have a van shuttle service that will drop you at Lusco's and pick you up.

We went to Lusco's for a friend's birthday. The server made her feel like Quuen for a day. We loved the private dining rooms and the food was excellent also. Definitely on our list to visit again!

No words can do it justice. Just go. And bring a bottle of wine.
