First time stopping here in years...and I mean like 15 years plus since I moved away for college. I stopped by with my husband (whose not a local) and the young lady there was friendly (reason the atmosphere got a 3 rating)and welcoming unlike the owner. The owner was very short with us like we were bothering him and just had a nasty disposition all together. I thought maybe it was my perception but after speaking with other locals about my experience this is normal with this gentleman if you're of a certain skin complexion...ie not caucasian and no the owner is not caucasian. The chicken was flavorful but not the best I've ever had. Would've probably stopped there again if I was treated like a customer and not a pest.

I travel the state and stop in all kinds of places. I have been by here but never went in. Today I walked in at 1:50 to see what it was. It says restaurant and souvenir mall on the door. I walked in to be greats by a lady that was friendly. I told her I’d love to know the history and if I could look around. She told me sure and went and got the owner. The owner came out and told me it is what you see. Was not interested in talking or letting me look around. Told me he doesn’t let people look around his public place. I kindly left and won’t come back.

Mr. D has been frying chicken in this historic general store for thirty years. He told me he really cooks for himself but lets others enjoy it too!
The fried chicken is the star. Hot, crispy, juicy, seasoned well. The chicken is worth the trip.
The sides are what you expect. Salad bar, has the basics. Vegetable sides are again what you’d expect.
Save room for cobbler on the front end. It’s worth it.

We came from out of town and asked the locals and they said really high things about this place so we had to stop on the way out we were told it was open 10 am - 4 pm and we showed up a little before 2. we walked in and werent greeted just informed our food had to be to-go because they were about to close? okay. no big deal. the issue came when 2 plates (just a breast & 3 sides) , a side salad which was just lettuce no cheese or anything just lettuce due to allergies , & 3 drinks came out to a total of $52.68 for some basic bland food. i personally went on their webside and before taxes our total shouldve been $30 according to the prices listed. very disappointing. feel very ripped off. will not be back between the being over charged and just the feeling like we were bothering them because they were ready to leave 2 hours early on a monday.

Was traveling and came upon this place. Young lady working was very helpful. Enjoyed the atmosphere, used to actually be an Old Country Store so many items to keep your attention. Food was average about what you expect from a buffet. Fried chicken is what this place is known for it was alright. With the age of the building and items comes a certain smell. I believe it affects the food taste. Glad I went, not sure I’d visit again when in town.

Interesting restaurant. If you did not know it was there, you would go right by. Somewhat of a novelty. Very junky environment, but great food. Definitely the best fried chicken I’ve had, but if you do not eat a lot, it really if not worth it. It cost about $23 for a meal, soda and desert ( blackberry cobble, was excellent) once again, if you eat a lot it is probably worth it, but I do not, so I question the value.
Parking: Plenty of parking out front
