This was a buffet. They would not put out fresh food when food. Without waitress person that took my money was very rude. We'll never go there again. Do not recommend country store anymore.

It's so cool when a place lives up to the hype. When you walk in you are politely asked to wash your hands if you are having the buffet. The service was very friendly and attentive. The fried chicken is world class with an incredible crunch and very juicy. Sides include most southern home cooking fare and all done to perfection. An excellent value for the money, come hungry!!

I have been to the Old Country store a few times now and it doesn't disappoint, the fried chicken is still the best I have ever had along with the trimmings like collard greens, lima beans, potato salad and all other vegetables on the buffet. The first time I came here was in summer of 2012 or 2013 with my own family, The second time was around labor day weekend in 2013 with my girlfriend now wife, and now today Sept 2025 I brought my wife back and my 2 daughters ( their first time ) and they loved the food as well mainly the fried chicken. It is well worth the price to pay for the buffet. To me Mr D still has the world's famous fried chicken. I've had other fried chicken from many different restaurants in this country and nothing can compare to Mr D's The Old Country store fried chicken, the only closest comparison or competition is Gus's world's famous fried chicken in Memphis Tennessee but they still don't have nothing on Mr D's fried chicken.

Drove 3 hours just to try the chicken and then 3 hours back. Did not disappoint. Crispy, flavorful skin. The meat was juicy. Ate till it almost hurt. Cornbread was a touch too dry. Love the atmosphere.

Arrived 45 minutes before closing and were refused to eat inside. I drove from out of town to be turned away before closing.

The fried chicken was fabulous! We also loved the collard greens and cornbread. Buffet choices were great. Their cobbler with ice cream was sooo tasty. Our server was nice and friendly.

Small selection on the buffet for $50 plus. Bathrooms were not clean. The restaurant was dusty. I mean I could have written my name in the dust. Spider webs underneath the chairs. The server was nice and friendly. Stopped because of the high reviews but I was extremely disappointed. We will not be back.
Sign and Google said OPEN. Came at 11 and was told it'd be at least 30 minutes before any food was ready. While in the sour scented bathroom, HUNDREDS of gnats were living their best lives inside the only working urinal!!
Definitely gone way downhill since the last time I went there. And $20 per person for a nonexistent buffet.
Don't waste your time
