The Chef’s Redfish is in a category all by itself! The best I’ve ever had!!

Our party waited 35 minutes for a table past our reservation time. Two steaks we ordered at our table one medium, one medium well, the medium arrived blue rare and the medium well was extremely well done. We had to eat in a hurry and leave due to the table time and food taking 40 minutes to get to the table when we ordered immediately upon sitting down. My understanding is that the previous owner was staying around to help the new owner run it and that it no longer the case and it shows.

Walk in with a party if 22 and they hit the floor running. They have done everything beyond what you would expect. The ladies they have working are beyond nice and respectful, and working hard to satisfy customers. If not from here it’s worth the drive to come enjoy Zack Garvins in Newton, Ms.

With a party of 15 and 14 of us got steaks. Steaks were cooked correctly had a good flavor but were at or below room temperature when served.

Southern casual fine dining done right! They have generous portions with a reasonable prices. The restaurant was packed on the Friday evening we were there, but they made fantastic use of the space and the lighting made things at the table feel intimate. Very friendly, down to earth staff.

I really hate to leave a bad review, however this is the third time I have purchased food here and was not given any eating utensils or condiments such as extra ranch. I have also ordered the Zack Attack in the past and was not given any sour cream or utensils to eat while out on break. The customer service is awesome I must say but the food sucks
We arrived and everything was fine they seated us at our table and handed us menus. We waited for a very long time for the place to have only have seven people seated, that’s including us. Three tables and three servers really. My wife wanted to say something but the server actually acted like she didn’t see us, even though we were seated right next to the table that she was serving. We watch as she served them, brought them out several drinks, asked if they’d wanted desserts, handed them their ticket, and then cleaned the table. NEVER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED US! My wife grew really irritated after waiting for over 30 mins, I convinced her to keep silent after she cleaned the table to see if she would come and take our order, we were never acknowledged. So we politely got up from our seats and left. They told us to have good night. I told them that we were never served and they looked really seriously surprised. I will never waste my time in this place after the way we were treated. We left there and were treated and served better at the Mexican restaurant and by the way I’m a really great tipper. In my opinion they don’t even deserve a star!!

Since the new owners have taken over, this place has gone down. Had to wait over an hour after we were told 45 minutes to an hour. Had to go ask when a table would be ready and Magically one was ready. Walked in and half the restaurant was empty. Finally sat down after an hour and a half wait and waited another 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. After another hour we got our food. Had to send my daughters chicken strips and fries back because they were cold. My steak was tiny and was apparently made with rubber. I could barely cut it and I ate about 4 bites and just gave up. Before I got home, I was to the point of vomiting. I’ve been up all night with my stomach. I truly believe this was some cheap grocery store meat. Meat from Mexico or something. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!

What was not to like ? We walked up to the door a minute before our reservation time. As we opened the door they were calling our name. We were escorted immediately to our table . Our waitress, Lacy , was the best . Her personality was absolutely heartwarming and welcoming. No one could have better served us . The salad was crisp and fresh . The steak was cooked perfectly medium ( just like we like them ) and the baked potato was served at the perfect temperature and was scrumptious. Did I mention the strawberry butter served with the bread ? Oh my goodness . I would go back just for that .
This was our 1st visit . It was absolutely worth the drive from our home . We will be back .

My husband and I are moving to Newton from Kansas City. We decided to visit this amazing place! It was worth it!! The place was packed, but we were served quickly. The waitress was delightful!! The food was out of this world!! Even the resident outdoor greeter (aka the cat) was inviting!! We have lived in an area with many steakhouses, and none of them even come close to the steak we had that night!! We can't wait to become regulars at this phenomenal restaurant!! Wonderful food, wonderful service and wonderful atmosphere!! If you haven't gone here you need to go!! ❤️
