I’m at a place called Fresh Market Cafe. Here are my opinions about my meal:
My first bite of broccoli was seriously salty; the remaining pieces got progressively better; the texture was fine, but I probably won’t get broccoli again.
The black-eyed peas are perfectly seasoned, with something like pepperoncini juice in the background; no heat to it, but a truly wonderful flavor. As is typical of restaurant fare, the peas were approximately al dente — nowhere close to as hard or rubbery as I have gotten from other restaurants, but also not quite as soft as home-cooked. I’m going to go out on a limb, and say that this is about the best texture you’re ever gonna get at a restaurant.
The hamburger steak is a nice portion; I got mine with rice and gravy, and sautéed onions. The hamburger steak is wonderfully juicy and has excellent flavor. The rice and brown gravy pairs perfectly with the meat.
I’m not recommending either way regarding the onions: I would get them again, but they are separate from the gravy, so if you’re not thinking about it, you might not remember to get them. No worries if you don’t: the rest of the meal was more than good enough even without them.
I got plain cornbread; it was buttery and had a pleasant background flavor that I couldn’t identify but that reminded me of seafood. It made for an interesting and enjoyable culinary experience.
Peach cobbler was my choice for dessert. I knew better than to expect it to taste as good as the peach cobbler my maternal grandmother used to make — and I was not disappointed for my prediction.
Like the other elements of my meal, the cobbler seemed to be a creative blend of unexpected ingredients and techniques coming together harmoniously to make very happy my old-timer tastebuds.
The cobbler I got was probably the last, or the next to last, serving from the pan; it had obviously been on the serving line for a while — but it wasn’t burnt or dehydrated: instead, it was slightly crispy where it had been in contact with the pan, and the sugars had glazed to perfection.
The flavor was definitely that of a “dark” peach cobbler, with the sort of cinnamon sugar and flaky top that one would ordinarily associate with an apple cobbler. I know that sounds odd, but — at least in this case — it worked brilliantly!
I got here about 4:20 PM, it is now 5:27 PM. I don’t know how it is that I didn’t know this place was here, but I am glad to have discovered it!

I placed an order last night for the following items:
(1) Applewood wrapped Meatloaf, (1) Pot Roast, (2) Lima Beans, (1) Mac n' Cheese, (1) Broccoli Rice & Cheese Casserole & (1) Banana Pudding. The entrees and sides were fantastic; however, I really can't vouch for the Banana Pudding which was ordered and paid for because it was not included with the delivery.
What a shame, such a great possibility...

Went in at 11. Nothing was ready. Went back only to have over cooked green beans and burnt hamburger steak. Awful

First impressions are everything. They weren’t friendly but not rude either. I got fish okra and broccoli cheese rise. The sides were ok my issue was my fish. Completely burned! I was hungry and didn’t want to go back. Needless to say I definitely won’t be back! $30 for burnt fish! So they definitely won’t get business from me again or will I recommend them to anyone!

The Fresh Market Cafe had the great selection they’ve always had as well as great service! My only complaint was that the items I had were a bit overcooked, though normally this is not the case!
Wheelchair accessibility: Very wheelchair accessible! As well as plenty of marked handicap parking in places that make access to the restaurant very easy.

The hamburger steaks were burnt, but other than that, the meal was ok. The workers looked understaffed and stressed out. Not very friendly.

If you’re looking for a delicious home cooked meal, look no further. The best meal I have had in a long time since visiting Mississippi. Delicious, healthy, cheap and quick. I highly recommend. A little off of the beaten path, but worth every dollar/travel time. Very friendly staff also!
