Ate here for a rehearsal dinner and was quite underwhelmed with the food. First I do want to say the service was fantastic and the servers did an amazing job. The food on the other hand- is just not for me. None of the food had any flavor at all. Just extremely bland, no hint of garlic, onion or any seasoning in any of the dishes which is quite surprising considering they are a southern restaurant. The restaurant is also extremely loud, the acoustics are terrible and you can barely hear yourself think when the restaurant is busy. The bathrooms are very nice and clean.

It is frustrating when you go to a small restaurant with a gourmet menu and they are out of everything. The food was poorly prepared and some dishes we had to send back they were so awful. They need to try a menu they can prepare consistently that are delicious. Would never go back but the service was excellent.

A bit loud but overall a great experience. The fried short ribs were GREAT! The sauce was sweet and spicy but not too much- I could still taste everything. I also had the salad with the fried chicken skin and it was tasty and a bit on the savory and salty side (there were olives and capers so duh lol). I wish there had been more eggs and potatoes because they were so good in that salad.

My husband and I held our pre-wedding rehearsal dinner at GRIT and are so happy we did. Our experience with them was fantastic from start to finish! Our experience started with a one-on-one consultation where we discussed our guest count and chose our menu, which included food and drink service. GRIT created an absolutely delicious menu for our family to enjoy. Angie, the owner, was very responsive to my questions leading up to our rehearsal dinner and made me feel like she was happy to be a part of our wedding weekend. We opted to have our rehearsal dinner in the GRIT's outdoor space, and they set it up beautifully. All the tables had tablecloths and candles, and there was a crackling fireplace and two space heaters to keep us toasty warm. The GRIT staff were excellent, ensuring our drinks never emptied. They brought all our food to the table simultaneously so no one had to wait for others; we could dig in all at once. Angie even took the time to come out and greet me, which was so sweet! The food was fresh and delicious, and my family raved about our meal at GRIT the entire wedding weekend. The airline chicken breast and roasted chile sweet potatoes were definitely the crowd favorites (and my absolute favorite was the chocolate torte with dark cherry coulis). I highly recommend GRIT for your next special event!

Was in Oxford and Grit was recommended and so glad we went! Food was fantastic, we had the shrimp and peas, catfish and burger - All delicious! Our servers Anne, Kendall and Max went above and beyond. Can’t wait to go back!!!

I live in Water Valley, and I enjoy taking the 15 minute scenic drive over to Grit in Taylor. The food and drinks are always fantastic. The staff is very friendly and willing to accommodate any of your needs. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with rotating art displays and a patio with a cozy fireplace. If you are dining alone or with a small group, I recommend sitting at the bar to eat. The bartenders always have great recommendations! If you go often enough, you might even get a drink named after you. ;)
