The last time my wife and I visited the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford, Mississippi, there wasn't a Steak 'n Shake restaurant at 762 All-American Drive, in the shadow of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. As we planned our trip to Oxford this year, I couldn't wait to have lunch at what I imagined was a thriving business on campus, especially on game day when thousands of Ole Miss students and alumni and fans partied at the nearby Grove and attended the Saturday afternoon football game. Alas, much to our disappointment, the Steak 'n Shake is temporarily closed. Because of COVID, I assume. I can only imagine how much revenue the restaurant is losing, especially when Ole Miss is in session and the Rebels are hosting Alabama or Mississippi State or Georgia. It's like closing an Irish pub on St. Patrick's Day in Chicago. I still recall how popular a Steak 'n Shake was when I attended the University of Illinois from 1958 to 1962, a go-to destination after class, on weekends and during final exam week. I'm sure Ole Miss students miss it, tool
Always good food but could be quicker.
Great good and shakes good prices
