Bounds is your down-to-earth hometown eatery. Located between Sonic and South Main Boutique in Water Valley, Mississippi. The restaurant runs out of a food truck owned and operated by Mr. Bounds and his children. The truck opened around 8 years ago to much success on a recently updated lot. The lot provides an area to park and an area to eat if you so wish. The atmosphere is always that of friendliness. After speaking with the owner's son, Pawfene Bounds, he let me know the history behind the place. Mr. Bounds opened the food truck after selling food at home for over 40 years. The restaurant is the love child of a retired truck driver, and the passion shows in the food. Pawfene now runs the truck in his father’s stead, maintaining the love and taste of the cooking.
I wanted to sample the variety of available food on the menu, as the menu often has limited-time options available. The menu layout is simplistic and easy to digest. While also being artistically appealing to the eyes. The types of cuisine available are labeled into specific categories with their prices adjacent. The options range from wings, and barbeque, to wraps and burgers.
I had heard quite a lot about the restaurant so I had a good idea of what I would like to try. We ordered:
*A Burger Plate with honey gold-loaded fries
*Lemon Pepper Bone-In Wings with bacon loaded Fries
*Honey Gold Bone-In Wings with plain fries
*A Barbeque plate with beans and coleslaw
With an assortment of food ordered the cooking time was fast and I was able to take my food home in under 30 minutes. They take cash or CashApp as payment. With a bank nearby available to withdraw money from it is easy but we paid using CashApp.
The presentation of the food had an appealing layout that had thoughtful placement. The messier items were placed upon foil to prevent spillage onto the other items. Some of the food was placed in aluminum to-go containers that displayed the food. The food after a 15-minute drive home was still hot.
The first thing I sampled was the burger, beans, and coleslaw. The burger was best described as savory yet had a bit of spice. The patty was adorned with fresh, crisp-tasting vegetables such as tomatoes and onions. The beans were savory and a little bit sweet which helped offset the burger's seasoning. The coleslaw was delicious, having hints of vinegar which is my favorite.
Next, I tasted the wings alongside the loaded and plain fries. The honey gold wings were coated with a tangy sauce that accented the flavor of the chicken meat. The lemon pepper wings had a crispy exterior, tender inside, and a lemony dry rub sprinkled on top. The loaded fries were flavorful with the addition of chewy bacon bits with crispy tenders. They were topped on a bed of nacho sauce and crinkle-cut fries. The plain fries were just as delectable alone, due to their crispy and salty taste. Overall, the fries accented the wings splendidly. The combination of a vast array of flavors is quite memorable.
The last thing I had was the barbecue sandwich with honey gold-loaded fries. The sandwich was full of scrumptious pulled pork. The sauce had a sweet spice taste that did not overpower the smokiness of the pulled pork. The honey gold loaded fries were particularly my favorite item. The honey gold sauce had a spice that contrasted well with the creamy nacho sauce. Making the combination pop with a unique take on loaded fries.
The experience from beginning to end was pleasant and I did not encounter one thing that was off-putting from ever wanting to eat there again. If I had to rate Bounds it would be five stars for their wonderful customer service, exemplary food, and memorable staff.
The photos do not lie. The food is simply as good as it looks there is no way around that.

We recently visited relatives in Water Valley and had the opportunity to eat at Bounds BBQ. Being from Texas, we are familiar with top notch BBQ and I can say that Bounds BBQ ranks at the top! The brisket was out of this world good - flavorful and tender. The people were friendly and provided excellent customer and the menu prices were very reasonable. Put Bounds BBQ on your list of places to go if you are in this area!
