Club Moderne is widely regarded as one of the best-preserved examples of Art Moderne architecture (Streamline Moderne) in Montana, standing as a cultural landmark of Anaconda’s social and architectural history.
Built in 1937–1938 during the late Great Depression. Commissioned by the Anaconda Copper Mining Company, the building was designed by prominent Montana architect Fred F. Willson, who was responsible for many significant structures across the state. With its curved glass block windows, smooth stucco exterior, and sleek horizontal lines, the Club Moderne reflected a forward-looking, modern aesthetic meant to symbolize progress and optimism at a time when the copper industry—and the town—were facing economic uncertainty.
Unlike many historic buildings tied directly to industrial functions, the Club Moderne represented leisure and community life, offering residents a stylish space for relaxation and entertainment. Frank Wullus built the Club Moderne, designed by Willson.

An Anaconda art-deco landmark bar from 1937 with a great selection of adult beverages and always a sporting event to be had on television. Owner and bartending staff are always attentive and friendly. Highly recommended. Stop in and catch a beverage and a game!

We went to the Club Moderne ostensibly to watch the Connor Mcgregor fight. The bartender was a pleasant fellow who made us feel welcome. The crowd was moderate and the atmosphere jovial. We ordered a garlic chicken pizza, which was very tasty. All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Club Moderne, and I give them my heartiest recommendation for a good night out.
