Carmel's was the only place open in town when we arrived that wasn't fast food. When we came in, some of the regulars were having a small birthday celebration. It has a fantastic atmosphere. I had the chicken tender basket with onion rings, my companion had the ribeye steak. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the hand cut fries were PERFECT. The chicken was standard fare, but delicious nonetheless. The onion rings were probably the best I've ever had.
We spoke with the new owner (purchased in January of 2024) and he said he was a former steakhouse operator (hence the amazing steak) and that he was going to be refreshing the building over the coming winter. I'm excited to come here again next time I drive the I-90 corridor.“
