June 10, 2021 we booked a room for Lone Tree Inn in Sidney MT after a long day of severe weather east of the area. Some post-storm winds knocked out power to the inn and other areas south of downtown. We arrived at the inn just as the manager was pulling away in her Ford pickup truck. We know this because three individuals (a lady, man and young teenager/adult) were huddled under the awning. They informed us the power was out, the manager had just left and confirmed it was her as the pickup truck in front of us, and said we were welcome to hang out in lobby but that there was no way for us to check in or complete our reservation for the night!! They noted she wouldn’t be back until 2pm the next day…. We sat in the parking lot for an additional 20 minutes calling other places to book a stay. We ended up having to drive another 2 hours to Dickinson ND and arrived there after 1:00AM!! Completely unacceptable service in keeping our $$$ for the sake of sticking to terms and conditions of not canceling the reservation. WE COULDN’T CANCEL BECAUSE THE MANAGER LEFT!!! DO NOT BOOK A STAY HERE. Ever.

I really dislike writing negative reviews, and also always prefer to support properties that arenot part of a global or national chain. However, I wish i had gone to an alternative property when staying in Sidney. The check in staff was ambivilent at best, but the process was relatively smooth when he finally showed up. When I checked out there were no staff on duty as the desk is only manned from 8 am. My room, on the face of it, was clean, and the toiletries were very good quality for the sort of property the motel is. But, when opening the fridge there was soneone else's left overs still there. The coffeemaker in the room was disgusting so I did not even bother using it. The motel was generally noisy, with thin walls and loud guests - probably coming in from the tap room out back. The motel allegedly offered breakfast. This amounted to a flask of cold coffee and some pre-packed muffins that had literally just come out of the freezer. I went to MacDonalds instead to get a decent brew.

I had some misgivings about this stay, hotel is older, and we got a really really good rate on hotwire and I was worried the hotel was not going to be an adequate place to get good sleep. We were very pleased in the end. Nothing fancy, but it was clean, rooms were VERY quiet, air conditioning was great, provided a small background noise but not overly noisy, toiletries were REALLY nice, beds clean and comfortable. We really had no problems here. There is no real breakfast, juice, coffee and donuts if you are lucky is all. We got a great rate on Hotwire and were very very pleased. This town is on the edge of the oil boom so plan well in advance, the entire hotel was sold out the night we were there.
