Ok first off, the food was superb. I tried fish I'd never had before and really enjoyed it. Everything was prepared excellently.

My complaint is with the experience as a whole. The mother daughter pair sitting right in front of Paul seemed to know him, and got detailed explanations of each dish and the preparation. My partner and I, as well as the other couple at the end of the table got quick explanations. Paul would engage briefly with us, and maybe answer a question or two, then switch back to speaking to them.

I'm allergic to dairy. I was surprised to encounter it at a Japanese style meal, but its not a big issue. The website warns in advance that they can't accommodate, allegies and I'm not expecting substitutions or anything. There were 14 courses, I can skip one or two. My issue is how it was handled. When I have done other types of fine dining, they ask at the start of the meal or when your reservation is taken if there are any allergies or restrictions. I was surprised when we were served oysters with cheddar. I just skipped the course, and I told the staff that I can't eat any dairy. Maybe it's unreasonable to be annoyed that I was served ice cream later in the meal, but there were only 8 of us there. For the level of experience the omakase is advertised as, it was frustrating to have food be placed in front of me when I can't eat it, and have communicated that.

I would like to shout out Maddy, she made us feel very welcome, and even let us steal a stray birthday tiara that was floating around the restaurant.

Izakaya was the best food experience I've ever had and probably one of the top 10 experiences I've had in general. The kitchen staff was engaged and helpful (Paul, Maddi, and Trevor were amazing, but also shout out to the rest of the kitchen), and the food was out of this world.

Paul obviously cares deeply about his craft and made sure we knew what we were eating and where on the fish it came from, and it was really cool to watch him work right in front of us (especially given the fact that the sushi was out-of-this-world). Trevor was super fun and kept everyone engaged through the whole night while also making sure we were supplied on anything we needed - not to mention he is an impressive force in the kitchen and everything they brought out was great. Maddi was also incredible and made the best mocktails I've ever had (and it's not even close) - each of them was innovative and delicious.

The food itself was amazing and there wasn't a single course that I disliked. It's near impossible to pick a favorite because they all felt like stand-outs. I am traveling for the summer so I booked a solo reservation and they treated me like family and made sure that I was never bored or left out. Montana is a beautiful place with lots to do and still Izakaya's omakase experience is near the top of my list. If you are on the fence about this experience: make the reservation, it's worth it!

Kate Reynolds says it best. This was our total experience summed up.
It was the most bizarre dining experience I have ever had.

Izakaya Three Fish is so hyped up in this town of Bozeman as the best, I truly do not know why?

We were only served three pieces of sushi and the dishes kept getting more confusing to the point of being inedible. Who puts smoked cheddar on oysters? Serves just the legs of a greasy fried soft shell crab and an overly spiced octopus to the point were all you taste is chilies.

It was our anniversary and I was expecting an incredible dining experience. There was zero presentation, service completely lagged.
The atmosphere was loud with bass pumping through the floor from next door.

One warning sign, I asked for the sake list and was pointed to an app without any description of the sakes, this was completely lazy.

Secondly all the other tables in the room were without food and practically begging for diner.

After and hour and a half, completely starving to the point of tears with the deepest apologies to my wife I didn't quit know what to do. It was the only time in my life were we actually walked out feeling completely robbed of $400 for an omakase experience.

I am still in shock.

Holy...this place is UNREAL. Service is unmatched, the food is STUPIDly incredible. Seriously, you cannot ask for better omakase. Have had it a few times from wonderful places and this is among the best. Also, the cocktails are out of this world. Serious skill on display here.

Everytime we eat here is amazing. Omakase or a la carte, it doesn't matter. Paul and Maddi and the crew are humble and engaging and create a fantastic overall experience. Truly a blessing to have Izakaya in Bozeman.

Best food and atmosphere in town, the omakase is an incredible experience and every plate is an unreal delicious masterpiece. The drinks and regular menu items are also wonderful and the staff are the most fun and enjoyable people around. The best gem in the state!

Hands down best sushi in Bozeman and on par with top sushi in any major city. An absolute incredible surprise, I wandered in late on a weekday night and chef Paul sat us and threw us into the omakase tasting. Chef is an absolute character, brilliant at his craft, and his whole crew is just so pleasant, efficient, and overall amazing to be around. Izakaya gives you world class sushi in your besties living room. Impeccable experience- I can’t wait to come back. Also, fantastic ambience and soundtrack. Would come just to listen to the music.

Have you ever taken a bite of something that ignites all your senses and transports you out of reality? A bite that you dream of and can almost taste when thinking about? Izakaya Three Fish does this for you.

Hands down the best omakase I’ve ever tried. It is pricey, but the experience is worth every penny.

They offer an ala carte menu with one-of-a-kind corn dogs, a delicious smashburger (best in town), and authentic Japanese dishes if you aren’t feeling a full omakase dinner.

Plus, their bartender was ranked one of the top 3 mixologists in Bozeman this year!

Go there! Don’t miss out! It’s worth it!

If you are looking to have a sublime time, go to Izakaya Three Fish.

The dishes and drinks are amongst the best in town, with the friendly staff in accompaniment. While the atmosphere is laid-back, the experience is cared for with high quality.

If you are unsure about whether you want to give it a try, this is your sign to do it.
