Came from out of state, down south, and had the worst steak I have ever had at a restaurant. I’m not sure if it’s a northern thing but they did not season their meat at all. Not even with salt and pepper. They also didn’t have salt and pepper on the table. This is one of the first times since I was a child that I had to use steak sauce. This may be someone’s idea of a good steak, but for “market value” ($50+), I expect for it to at least taste good. Service was fine...read full review
Came as a solo traveler, sat at the bar and had the best service, amazing steak special and some brilliant laughs with those sat around me. This place is really awesome and the beer was great too.
What a wonderful dinner! From the moment we walked through the door it was a 5 star from us. Our server, Jay, is a Rockstar and we are already counting down the days until we make the drive from Helena again. Now our most favorite restaurant. The duck breast was phenomenal!!!!

Montana Ale Works offers an enjoyable dining experience with friendly service and a diverse menu. The place is huge, with a nice bar area and a more restaurant feel seating on the side, and the outside patio is gorgeous. The food was to die for, with options such as fish tacos, truffle fries, spinach artichoke dip, meatloaf, elk burger, and bison steak. The menu offers some unique items that guests enjoy. The bison pot stickers are highly recommended. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, making it a popular spot. During peak hours, it can be quite busy, but the good food and attentive service make it worth visiting. The location and vibe are great, with excellent beer and cocktail choices. The staff provides very good service, even when busy. The hatch burger, smoke stack, and elk burger were fantastic. The kale ceaser salad was surprisingly good, and the Montana meat loaf was hearty. The Mac Cheese with truffle oil was loved, and the house salad was so good. A small flight of local beers is recommended.
