The Gateway Reviews
Very rude managers. They kicked out a table of more than 8 because they needed extra chairs!!!!!!!! Can’t take chairs from other tables that aren’t even being used!!!!! We left too. That’s just not right
My family traveled from Nelson Creek to have lunch here. We had 7 adults, 3 toddlers, and 2 babies. We are the kind of group that over tips and are overly friendly. We walked in the doors and immediately received a dirty look from the manager. We wanted to add two extra chairs to our table so we could all sit ( there were only 4 other ppl in at this time). We were told we could not and were not offered any other options...so the three kids shared two chairs and a couple of the...read full review

The Gateway offers good food, with standout dishes being their steaks, burger, and walleye fingers. Recent reviews highlight the walleye fingers as fantastic, and the lobster pasta as a delicious special, especially impressive for a rural area. The restaurant is known for its impressive food and family favorites like walleye and flat iron steak. It remains a welcoming place with great service and a friendly atmosphere, even during busy times when some waiting might occur. The view and atmosphere add to the experience, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant is kid-friendly with handicap parking available and is the only restaurant in the area, providing a convenient option for diners. The cookie with ice cream is highly recommended, and arriving early on Friday and Saturday can enhance the visit. The staff, including the server Keely, are appreciated for their friendly and attentive service.
Recent reviews mention that it is a great spot, especially for walleye, and one of the best places to eat within hours around this part of Montana. It mainly serves pub-style food and is a favorite for those coming while fishing. Although there was a long wait to get seated, once inside, service was good. One diner enjoyed the walleye fingers, which were very good and served hot with good tartar sauce, despite the last one being a little fishy. Another customer noted that the staff seems more friendly now, but wished the kitchen stayed open later, as they don’t like to get off the water until dark. In the past, there was a disappointment when the kitchen closed early, and they couldn’t get food after 8 p.m. on some visits. Overall, the restaurant remains a popular choice for hearty, pub-style meals and friendly service.
