Server and cook were both very welcoming and super helpful in accommodating my needs as I ordered vegan. Excellent service, delicious food, and plenty vegan options!

If I could warn every single person before they walked through this door, I would.
I went to Thai Basil Big Sky in a group of 6. The staff told us they couldn’t seat us together, so they split us into 2 separate tables of 3. When the check came for my table, it looked like a normal bill for a party of 3. I assumed the automatic “large party” gratuity no longer applied because, well, we were no longer a large party.
So I added an extra 20% tip on top, thinking I was just doing the right thing.
Only later did my friend point out that the automatic gratuity for the original party of 6 had already been added, even though we were at separate tables. In other words, I unknowingly tipped 20% on top of a built-in tip that they never clearly explained.
I felt sick to my stomach when I realized what had happened. Not because of the money itself, but because of how easy it was for a customer who is trying to be generous to get taken advantage of. It felt like the system is set up so people like me walk out paying far more than they realize.
Here’s the problem:
• We were split into 2 tables of 3, but they still treated us as a “party of 6” for the automatic gratuity.
• No one clearly told us that gratuity had already been added.
• As a result, I double-tipped without even knowing it.
That kind of lack of transparency destroys trust. I left feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly a little violated. I came in expecting dinner, not a lesson in reading receipts like a forensic accountant.
If you decide to eat here, inspect every charge on your bill. Ask directly if gratuity has already been added. As for me, I won’t be back. Any restaurant that leaves a customer feeling this taken advantage of is not a place I’m willing to spend another dollar.
If I could give 0 stars, I would.
Thai Basil Big Sky was one of the most blatantly unethical dining experiences I have ever had.
We walked in with a party of 6. They immediately told us we could not sit together because of “how their seating works,” so they split us into separate sections. Fine. Annoying, but fine. What is not fine is that they still charged us the automatic large party gratuity for 6 people even though we were separated at different tables. That alone is misleading. To make it worse, because they never clearly told us they had already added gratuity, several of us tipped an additional 20% on top of the automatic charge. That is not an honest mistake. That is a system.
Next, the menu very clearly states: add protein for $3, double protein for $10. Simple, right? Wrong. I ordered my dish with double protein and they charged me $13 extra: $3 plus $10. And the amount of meat they actually put in the dish did not even come close to justifying that insane upcharge. You do not get “double” anything. You just get charged almost 70 percent more for average protein.
It gets better. One person at our table asked for fried egg. Just an egg. They charged him $8, no warning by the way.
When I politely pointed out that at the very least they should remove the extra $3 and simply charge the $10 “double protein” fee that their own menu advertises, the server told me this is how “the owner says we have to do it.” I explained that it is misleading, that it lacks integrity, and that it is absolutely false advertising on the menu. Her response was basically a shrug and “there is nothing we can do.” She literally dared me to write a review.
So here it is.
This place is not just overpriced. It is operating on practices that feel deliberately unclear and incredibly unfair to the customer. From the forced gratuity on a split party to the absurd upcharges that do not match the menu or the portions, everything about this experience screamed “we will squeeze every extra dollar out of you and hide it in the fine print.”
I left feeling so disgusted by the way they conduct business that I might as well have had food poisoning. My stomach turned more from their ethics than from their food.
If you choose to eat here, know exactly what you are walking into. Check every line on your bill. Question every “extra.” And if you care about honesty, transparency, and basic respect for customers, I strongly recommend taking your money somewhere else.
Excellent food, vibes and service.

I come here ALL THE TIME and it never fails. Amazing green curry, tiger bombs and pad Thai! The service is incredible, Nigel puts on a one man show like no other, and is very attentive and helpful. The portions are pretty big, which always ensures I’ve got dinner for another night with my leftovers which I love. 10/10

I’m not a big review person, but I think it’s important for others to know. The food was amazing, portion sizes are big and the service was great. To be honest, not what I expected anywhere in Montana!

We dined here while in big sky and had an amazing meal! The panang curry was one of the best we’ve ever had, and the khao soi was a combination of many delicious flavors. They gave large quantities, and service was excellent. Definitely would visit again!

Very good Thai food.
Very thankful so. We been to many different restaurants in the Village over the past 3 years and most are or were a complete waste of time and money.
So happy to eat something that had Flavor.
I'll be back again.
