Very interesting place. Somewhat eclectic. Away from the town of Hamilton. But good food, excellent service from Dot and ended up meeting some wonderful people. We will go back on future trips.

For an iconic restaurant we were somewhat disappointed with paper cups and placemats and the clutter at the entry...new york strip was lovely service was warm and huckleberry cheesecake was a must have!!

Cooked our meals for the Alpha Spike camp at the Bowles-Creek fire, it was the best feeling knowing we had a home cooked hearty meal waiting for us every night. No one went hungry.

Worst meal and experience we've ever had! Ordered a medium rare ribeye...it came BLUE! not rare, blue rare! Not even close to a MEDIUM RARE. So I sent it back. They refired the SAME $40 steak....it came back 5 minutes later charred on the outside and the exact same BLUE RARE inside. For one, you never re fire the same steak unless you're serving cheap cuts to your family. Second, they still cant even come CLOSE to the temp. Sad. Even worse, the waitress was clueless to how to handle the matter, she didnt even know what temp steaks are or should be. So an hour into the meal and I still dont have a steak cooked relatively close to what I ordered. She offered to do nothing but keep reheating it. I was so disgusted I didnt want it reheated AGAIN nor to keep waiting. She left and mumbled against me, loud enough I could hear. What a complete waste of time and money for service that was below fastfood level, and for a steakhouse, they should at the very least know they steak temps. I'm a cook at a resort, I know how to cook a steak, and Skalkaho is an embarrassment to anyone claiming to be a restaurant let alone a steak house.

My recent dinner was DELICIOUS. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly and the the horseradish was just right. The baked potato was creamy and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also enjoyed the wildlife photos, the horse collection & the bear theme in the restroom!Special thanks to Libby for her unflagging good humour and producing the huckleberry cheesecake!
