Excellent breakfast! Maybe the best in Montana. It gets busy. The waitresses were a bit frazzled. It wasn't a big thing but it does detract a little from the entire experience. They did a great job with the orders and food and coffee but could work on the interpersonal skills.
Ate breakfast here early in a Sunday morning. Such an inviting place and home meal large servings
Great food and service
We were greeted immediately by a warm and welcoming server. She immediately sold the table of 4 on their hand cut, hand breaded, local beef chicken fried steaks. The food was a 12/10, I’ve never had a better chicken fried steak in my life.
Great breakfast with friends. All the food was great. Mary Ann was a super friendly server. I will definitely go back.
Anyone who visits downtown Lewistown should be a patron of this restaurant! Beware, peak times means you'll have a significant wait. Great staff, cooks and food that will keep you coming back.
All of the reviews are true in that you will be waiting for an hour or more to be served and even then you still might not get your food! lol. We sat at a table for an hour only to be told they were out of bacon and were switching over from breakfast to lunch, but an hour prior to this we were told we can’t order breakfast. Wasn’t a big deal and we went ahead and ordered lunch but there was still no lunch being cooked an hour later. Seems there’s a serious breakdown of communication and organization but seems like they don’t care either. Wish we would’ve read the reviews beforehand and went somewhere else.
Highly recommend. Service is great. Food is great. Don't miss this stop for breakfast.
In town for an elk hunt and stopped in for breakfast. Exceptionally good, food and service. Smothered biscuits and gravy was awesome.

Average food for a decent price. Normally I wouldn't even review a standard diner except for the encounter at end of our meal. When the server, who was very pleasant, asked how everything was, I answered truthfully without attitude. Both my wife and I agreed the sausage gravy was lukewarm, even cool in parts. The server said she would talk to the kitchen.
Unexpectedly, as we were about to leave, one of the cooks showed up to the table with a digital thermometer and confrontational posture. She temped a new small cup of streaming gravy and showed the temp to me without even much of an explanation. Slightly taken aback, since the temp of this new gravy had nothing to do with our experience of the gravy we ate several minutes before, I questioned whether they temped all their gravy, or whether ours sat too long, because I really didn't expect that response. I wasn't expecting an apology or anything free; I've worked in kitchens, and just wanted them to know. But I certainly wasn't expecting to be gaslit about our experience, as if we couldn't know cool gravy when we eat it just because a different cup of gravy was apparently hotter at the precise moment it was temped on front of us. Silly response.
On a better note, again, the server was pleasant, the food came quick, and my son's pancake was nice and fluffy.

Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. Special breakfast today was chicken fried steak. My husband said it was the best he has ever had. Breakfast sandwich was top notch with your choice of cheese. I had it on Montana wheat bread with Swiss. The owner is sweet and very attentive. Don't miss eating here in the heart of Montana. Gravy is homemade sausage!

My friend and I stopped in after Mass to have breakfast. We went to the counter to check because it was very busy. We were told to wait by the entrance and we would have the next available table. We watched a family of 5 come in and they did the same thing. We watched as a table became available with three chairs. We started to go to the table and were told that we couldn't sit there because it was for the family of 5. The patriarch of the family was upset because he knew we were there before him. The two waitresses argued about who should be seated first. The waitress that told us to wait made sure we got the table. The table behind us opened up and the one who told us we couldn't sit there put them there but loudly proclaimed that the young boy would have to sit at the end because someone sitting at the end would interfere with the traffic flow of the restaurant. Apparently it was ok that the prior table occupants had an adult sitting at the end. I didn't catch what happened but while we were close to walking out due to the way we were treated by the older waitress, the family had enough and walked out without ordering. We watched two other groups of people walk out. The older waitress made sparky comments about other customers. Our waitress was very kind and attentive.
The food was amazing. If I had to do it again. I would've ordered take out and take it home to avoid the drama.

Seats were full on Saturday morning at the 406 Cafe. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed the nice atmosphere and good food. Reasonable prices and substantial portions. Recommend!
