We were in town for a funeral and our party took up the majority of the space. We didn't mind the wait and the food was good.

Anything good that I could say is probably redundant. The restaurant is exceptionally clean, the staff is very friendly and the hash browns that came with my very good Denver’s omelette were superb. This place is well worth a detour.

Don’t miss this local cafe in Malta, MT, right on US-2. The sign says, “The Hitchin’ Post Cafe : Eat here or we’ll all starve!” A fitting introduction to this restaurant. WONDERFUL addition to our day of driving. The breakfast was great and we got the feeling that anything you order would be tasty - all of our choices certainly were. I understand why they offer all-day breakfast. They apparently have homemade pies etc later in the day as well. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Coffee was hot, bottomless, priced like the old-days and midwestern-good! (I’ve missed it since national chains seem to have taken over). They close mid-afternoon. It may not look like a lot on the outside but inside is clean and friendly — definitely worth a stop!

Parking: Gravel lot. Not entirely smooth. Plenty of room for our camper. Easy on-off US-2.

Traveling cross-country and needed a lunch stop. The Hitching Post was a great stop! It looks like it might have an old gas station at one time, but the inside was lovely with well kept booths, tables and a counter with subway tiles on the back wall. Most important, it was super clean and the food was like home-cooked and delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch until 2:00 pm. The waitress was friendly and service was quick. (Plus: Bathroom was also very clean.) Definitely recommend for anyone in the area.

This was our favorite lunch experience in over 2000 miles of travel between MISSOURI Montana. Their stuffed French toast was amazingly huge and surprisingly light, and absolutely delicious! The chili was homemade and possibly the best I’ve ever had. The place was clean and quaint. They had a large sandwich and breakfast menu. Go early; they close at 2:00.

Came down to Malta from Saskatchewan for the day with my daughter. Looked up some restaurants for lunch and came across this place. Lots of good options on the menu especially breakfasty items. Food was very good, service was fast and friendly and the diner was very clean. Would definitely come back :)
