Love this little place! Food was great and there was only one surviving sausage. There's no big sign announcing the presence of this family owned and operated gem nestled in the little town of Philipsburg, Montana so keep an eye out for it. The poor reviews of months ago may have been true then but not so on our visit. Food is good country cuisine, friendly service, and clean. Don't pass up the chance to eat where the locals eat!

It's been remodeled and is clean etc. But limited seating and ambiance. Staff was friendly. Food was good and a decent selection.

On Aug. 20, 2023 there were 4 of us that came into the Sunshine Station at 10:00 am. Sara, waitress waited on us and took our orders. At 10:50 am my wife went up to the counter and asked Sara if she had turned our orders in. Sara stated that no she had not and did not know what she had done with them. My wife asked her to take our orders again because we wanted breakfast and knew breakfast ended at 11:00 am, and it was not our fault for the late lost orders. Sara took our orders again. An elderly couple seated next to us had been waiting since 10:30 am to have their order taken. Sara had given them coffee. At 11:10 am, the elderly lady walked across the dining room to ask if the waitress would take their order. She ignored the elderly couple. That lady got up and took the breakfast menus back to the counter to obtain lunch menus. Out table was served breakfast after that. We wife asked Sara if she could do her a favor and take the couple's order next to us because they had been waiting for a long time. Sara blew up and said in a loud voice that " I knew how to do my job and do not need any help" as she stomped off. Sara waited a few more minutes before returning to take the couple's order. I was talking to the couple when my wife and brother-in-law were up at the counter to pay the bill that came to a total of $45.00. Sara stated the meals were good to go. We thought the meals were on the house because of the slow service and issues with the orders. My wife stated that we would pay for the meals because we did not want to be accused of theft and my wife wanted a receipt at this time Sara hissed for F**** Sake but gave my brother-in-law the receipt. We left and went to the gas station store next door that was connected to the restaurant. My wife asked the clerk there for the name of the manager and asked if the clerk could relay the message to her on the incident and gave her my wife's contact info. My wife did make contact with Anni the manager on August 23, 2023 and told her the incidents which happened with the waitress Sara and her bad behavior. Anni stated that Sara had turned in a voided ticket and stated that we had walked out without paying which was a lie. We left the money on the counter and had a receipt for the meals. Anni stated she was going to review the camera footage and confront Sara about it. My wife also questioned Anni about some other bad reviews noted on Sunshine Station. Annie's responses did not make sense. We will not be returning to Sunshine Station for any meals. People skills and customer service are lacking. This might explain why locals downtown Philipsburg the night before did not mention Sunshine Station for breakfast when asked where was a good place in town to get breakfast.

The sirloin steak was really good, club sandwich was good, taco salad needed spice/flavor, and the chicken sandwich was okay.

Worst Customer service and excuse of a manager Anni@ The Sunshine Station Restaurant. The folks at the Gas station AMAZING! Our family of 12 come here twice a day, very regulars. After waiting for over an hour, in a slow restaurant we politely asked the waitress the status, by the way waitress was great!! Good job handling your self Sarah, your Manager was out of line!!!!! Poor gal was so embarrassed. Our food was wrong the waitress noticed it before we did, and she took it back, with out us even asking. Then she brought it back again, and it was still wrong. It was simple, no cheese, no bell peppers. It went back again, to which Anni the manager tried to hand pick the peppers out yet missed several instead of making it correctly. We still said nothing the little waitress was so embarrassed, and said the order has been voided I'm so sorry. Anni flew out of the kitchen at my husband after he mentioned that maybe next time to spend a little more time and attention to a request. My husband is SUPER laid back and not aggressive, and the nicest guy you will ever meet. She starts in with we can't give you the customer service you need, don't ever come back in here again!!!! GET OUT!! This rocked us both back on or heels, you just lost a local family of 12 that comes at least 2 times a week, in a community of maybe 800, Business owner, and I don't keep things to myself as you can tell from this novel. I will reroute tourist and traffic because of this customer service to other deserving restaurants. All the while, I let my husband do all the talking, I simply said, I will be making a call to the owner. Then she didn't like my review, and posted this proof of her classlessness.

After more than a decade in customer service and restaurant service I can absolutely say this place is 1000x the worse place ever to eat. When me and my family fist arrived there was not a CLEAN table for us to sit at. The waitress in stead of clearing tables or doing her job was sitting at the bar, and once she acknowledged us she took the trash off of our table and set it on another and didn’t wipe off the sticky soda from the previous people. The food is midi or cure and the menu is way over exaggerated. For my total bill being $65.00 when it should have been a $10 meal at best is outrageous. Most of the menu was a lie and when I explained my order issues and how the food was burnt and non-ediable the cracked out waitress that kept disappearing acted like it was my fault. When the cook asked her what was wrong she even said daja vue this happens yesterday , but it’s my fault. Please if you are driving by please skip it and wait till u get back to the city.

The Station has had a rough time over the last several years; after a change in ownership, a fire, and of course, Covid-19, one really couldn't blame them for struggling. But today, my sister and I decided to have lunch there, for the first time in a long time, and had a really nice experience. Their menu has expanded since we were last there, and the food was delicious and the service was timely and attentive. It felt like the restaurant I remember from years ago when my whole family would go there to eat and visit. I will definitely be back.

The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever seen in my life. Old hag waitress treated us like complete garbage for the entire time we were in the restaurant. Party of 7 walked in at 10:45 with zero greeting other than “YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO ORDER BREAKFAST”. She never asked us if we wanted anything to drink and rolled her eyes when we asked for drinks 30 minutes after we arrived. We were the only table. When our food arrived, all 7 guests said thank you as they got their plate and she never said a word in response. She slapped down a ticket and walked away. I’ve never felt more like an inconvenience. DO NOT recommend to anyone.

This is actually a negative 5 star review. The order taker & the waitress were both the rudest people I have ever ran into. Messed our order up then basically acted like it was our fault. Asked waitress to correct order & she aggressively snatched our meals off the table & proceeded to kick us out of the place. We were in shock. On our way out the door she rudely shouted something like "go back to your big town to eat". Sorry, rudest people I've ever encountered, we are from a small town less than 50 miles away. Never step foot in this place again. How does a business thrive with the rudest staff on earth??

Robyn Smith

You will be treated like you are an inconvenience to be there from the time you step into the restaurant and publicly humiliated just for being there. Never been treated so rudely ever. Too bad you can't give zero stars like others have said. Hopefully those people will go out of business soon. Can't imagine it'll take long.
