We had heard about this spot and finally experienced this amazingness! A wonderfully friendly staff who were accommodating (kiddo appetites) and kind! A must eat in Philipsburg.

Had the teriyaki chicken bowl, it was so salty I couldn’t eat it and the chicken was dry. Was it leftovers from yesterday? Won’t be back

Very disappointed that for the price of a meal we were not able to sit down and enjoy ourselves. Reviews looked great but service was more like a fast food establishment. Bummer.

Ehh Gads !! We are such a lucky little town to have dedicated pro's , consistantly bringing sushi on a level comparable with any award winning "shack" or resort town ! Went over in a snow storm , greeted with smilig faces and DAMN GOOD FOOD ! Worth the trip or a detour on the way home from the ski hill Yummy ! :)

At first I was skeptical of sushi in MT, but once I decided to give this little place a shot I did not regret it. Time and time again when I show up they outdo themselves. I am NEVER disappointed. Their team is caring of their customers, as well as taking the time to put love into each roll or entree. If you do not understand the menu and are curious about certain items, they throughly explain and even recommend their favorites. You can tell that Jesse (the chef) enjoys what he does. My review here is to tell others they don’t know what they’re missing! Big shout out to The Sushi Shack, and thank you for what you’ve brought to the table.

From the reviews I was almost dissuaded, but I took a chance anyway and was glad that I did! The fish was of unexpectedly good quality, the maguro nigiri the deep ruby red that I prefer. I've also never before had halibut nigiri but it was positively delightful. The selection of rolls was a little underwhelming, but the rainbow roll did not disappoint. To top it off, the staff was wonderful. Highly recommend!

I was surprised at the prices considering there is no seating provided. It is literally a little "to go" shack. The rolls were nothing to rave about. The chicken teriyaki was not eatable. It was way too salty and was not a good flavor at all. Almost $70 for lunch for 4. I know it's hard to find decent sushi in Montana but this was not worth it.

I thought that was just great, I had no idea when I would be in Phillipsburg today that I would be having sushi for lunch!

This is a true hidden gem of an eating experience. Quality sushi is the last food group you would expect to find in the county seat of Granite County, with a population of under 900 persons. But sure enough we struck culinary gold! The sushi selections are many and the woman taking our order told us what had just come in, a sea bass that couldn't have been any fresher at a West Coast establishment. The prices are commensurate with those in California. But what you need to know, is that this is not a sit down restaurant. Instead, it's take out only. But they seem to have an agreement with the lovely brewery next door, so you can sit there and eat your sushi in comfort and have a craft brew, as well. The sushi chef was trained in San Diego and clearly learn hi craft well. Philipsburg is a charming historic town and should be on your Montana itinerary. It's only 43 miles from Butte.

We went to PBurg for a little getaway for the day and stopped to grab some sushi after our adventures. There is nowhere to sit, which was odd. It seemed to be advertised more as a restaurant, not a takeout. You order at a walk-up counter and the person taking our order really struggled-- a bit frustrating on that end. They didn't seem to know what rolls they offered and didn't offer a greeting or even an iota of welcome. She seemed rather surprised to see us there honestly. Bizarre experience. When we were able to finally communicate our order, the sushi was mediocre. The rolls weren't well rolled so they fell apart easily and the ingredients didn't seem incredibly fresh (cucs were soft, cream cheese was warm, rice was a bit dry). The flavors were decent though. I'm hoping it was a bad day because with the rolls and flavors, I'd like to give it a try again in hopes of a better experience.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Horrible over salted uneditble food, lazy rude service disrespectful and nasty owner. Don't waste your time here there are plenty of other businesses in town that would love your support.
