Black Canyon Bistro is the perfect place to pause while driving through town. The cozy, small‑town charm pairs beautifully with a delicious menu and a standout Happy Hour. The staff—and even the locals—made me feel like a longtime regular from the moment I walked in. If you’re passing through, or staying local, this is absolutely worth the stop!

I made reservations on November 28th, at 1513 for one of the busiest dates, 5 December. Was told I didn't have reservations and was met with obnoxious attitude. I guess you should write down the hostess name. I will update on the food...

Black Canyon Bistro is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Red Lodge. Everyone makes you feel genuinely welcomed the moment you walk in and the food is equally as incredible! Their French Dip is without question, the best you will ever have in your entire life. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Every dish I’ve tried has been delicious, but that French Dip is truly next-level. The owners here are absolutely amazing! Truly some of the best people you will ever meet. You can feel how much heart they’ve poured into this place, and it shows in every detail. If you’re in Red Lodge, this is a 10/10 cannot-recommend-enough dining experience. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You won’t regret it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had dinner at Black Canyon Bistro tonight, and it was absolutely incredible. I ordered the special — grilled romaine with feta, cashews, and 85-day dry-aged elk, topped with marinated blueberries, pickled fennel, and an orange-scallion vinaigrette. I know it sounds like a lot was going on… and it was, but every flavor was perfectly balanced. Seriously, so good. I told our waiter how amazing it was, and the chef even came out to chat afterward — such a thoughtful touch and a real highlight of the evening. For dessert, we had the butter cream cake with homemade caramel icing — rich, nostalgic, and the perfect sweet finish. We’re locals and I’m a huge foodie, and I have to say: this meal completely impressed me. Creative, intentional, and bursting with flavor — Black Canyon Bistro is a gem.
Had lunch there and it was amazing. The burger was perfect as well as my husband's chicken sandwich. He also had a dessert, pumpkin and salted caramel pie, outstanding. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to visit again and go back.

The brussel sprout appetizer really put a bad taste in my mouth. They were soggy and coated in a less than appetizing sauce. The live music (Thursdays from 6-8) created a very nice ambiance and our server was a hoot.

What a lovely dining experience!! We were greeted with a warm reception by the friendly staff and the cloth table cloths etc were a nice touch. The food was especially delicious and unique! Wish this restaurant was in our hometown.

This place is a MUST stop! The service was excellent! We had the artichoke dip (which is now our #1 of best ever had) the Ribeye and chicken Alfredo, and this meal was by far the best we have had in our adventures in Montana and Wyoming, I really wish I could take this restaurant back to Florida!

Was excited to try this after an amazing breakfast at Cafe Regis but I thought the food was just okay and was very disappointed and put off by our server. We arrived at 4:01, just in time for Happy Hour! Our server told us that it was happy hour and so I asked for a drink recommendation and her response was ‘I don’t know, I don’t drink, I’ll have to ask the bartender.’ Really? Learn the menu And it went downhill from there with her. I thought the food was okay, I wasn’t wow’d. I wouldn’t go back.
