The website stated it was open I went on 7-5-24 and the place was closed and this was after I made an accepted 5:30 pm reservation so Zero Stars for poor customer service and communication as I also called and left a VM

So disappointed. We used to go there on our anniversary but have gone south the past several years. I was so excited to go and had studied the menu online. We got there, it was empty except for us. We were given a menu with a chicken sandwich, a hamburger, chicken Alfredo, another pasta they didn't have, and one steak. The special was chicken marsala, so we had that. No soup at all. The salad was a bit of iceberg lettuce. We've always had such a wonderful time there, the food was mediocre, and the experience was so disappointing.

Worth the short drive outside downtown Red Lodge - very Warm and cozy with a rustic Montana feel.

We were staying in the hotel and looked on yelp for a dinner spot. After reading through a bunch of the reviews for old ponytail, it looked like they hit a rough patch about a year ago but the recent reviews were good. So we gave it a try. Our server, Michael, was very attentive and friendly. We had the salmon toast as an appetizer which we recommend. I ordered the bison ribs which were fantastic - barely even needed a knife because the meat just fell off the bones- and my husband had the Wienerschnitzel which he also enjoyed. We asked about the chef and he wasn’t there. We were impressed that the number 2&3 chefs did such a good job!

Service is a bit slow, but that was okay for my Honey & me. Food was awesome, I had Salmon, my Honey (wife) had Steak. Highly recommend!

Recently visited for a birthday party. Awesome location and a cool old building. I had ordered one entree and the wrong one was brought out. Since I was with a large group and did not want everyone to wait, I kindly said I would eat it. Very salty and not my favorite. Waitress was new and was nice but definitely a rookie!

Excellent meal. I loved the mushroom soup starter.

Hostess was hostile when we asked why she wasn’t wearing a mask. Patrons at the bar were unmasked and less than 3 feet apart. Bartender put mask on when this was pointed out. Manager was not concerned. This is so sad because the food is very good, and we have always enjoyed eating here. Usually the staff have masks in this time of Covid and are very helpful. We won’t go to Piney Dell again.

I had dinner with a friend at Old Piney Dell on Thursday, August 13. Piney Dell is in a very beautiful and rustic setting in a nearly century-old building. The menu was smaller than usual doing to the Covid situation, but we were very happy with meals featuring wienerschnitzel and steak. The opening salad was very good, as were the sides. The wine list at Piney Dell is not extensive, but reasonably priced and just enough to meet pretty much every taste. The service was excellent and I enjoyed my conversation with the chef, who came to our table to get our input on the meal. I probably have dined here at least 15-20 times over the past 40+ years, and have never been disappointed.
