Very cute place. The restaurant is situated by a gorgeous river, so the scenery is top notch. The food was cooked beautifully. We’re had kids meals (one with chicken nuggets and one with a burger), a green chili bacon burger, and a chicken strips basket. Everything tasted as one would hope, juicy and flavorful. We also got curly fries and beer battered fries. We found them both good, but the curly fries won on flavor. The people working the shop were kind, friendly, and helpful.
Cool little spot!
Red Box Car is always a stop that I look forward to eating at when I'm in Red Lodge in summer months. It's a nice and local roadside stop right next to the creek. The burgers and fries are delicious, and it's highly reccomended to get one of their milkshakes while you're there too.
I hadn't eaten their in a number of years, and they do take credit cards now if you also haven't stopped by in awhile!
In a town like Red Lodge with so much great food, add this on to your list of places to go eat while driving through! You'll scarf your food down right away after a day on the Beartooth Pass, out hiking, or if you're like me, after a day of skiing in the Beartooths!
It took awhile for them to make the milk shake but other than that it was amazing there was a perfect view of the rock river and an amazing place to eat
10/10. Amazing food and service.
It said they were open but wasn’t open. Drove half an hour to get it. Such a waste of my time thanks for not updating your web
site.
Going in the summer is great
Red Lodge legend!
Just as good, if not better of a burger or chicken sandwich than someplace on the main drag like natalis ‐ and cheaper also. Plus the icecream/milkshakes are always worth a stop. This place is cash only but there is an atm available.

We stopped here for lunch. Things to note: CASH ONLY, but there is an ATM onsite. I did not see any indoor seating. There are Port a John restrooms that were clean. This was a cool little spot with seating outside and tables along the river. You order at the rail car, and they notify you when your food is ready. We had burgers, which were good. Our friends had milkshakes, which they said were really good.

Nice location, food was 'Meh' for the price. Service...well come get your food at the window.
Great for ice cream stuff, real food....meh.
Almost $100 for 4 of us to have a burger, fries and drink.
Edit to add- the owners response below, says all you need to know.
Stoner ,flatbill, Gen Z owner and workers don't really care.
Look at my review of Sittis Table in Cody, where I got more and better food for less money.
I LIVE in a tourist area, this place wouldn't cut it here for more than 3 years.
The reply is a textbook case of poor customer service.
Again, food was Meh, service nonexistent and with just a bit of work and care, the place could be great for what it is.
Having run my own small business, I get how hard it is to deal with the public, but this reply and what I saw there...ain't the path to success.
Signed happily retired Gen X'r.
PS- I knocked off a few stars for the flies that swarmed us from the overflowing garbage cans on the deck.

Honestly, the best milkshakes I've ever had! So glad to see your business survived the flood.
The green chili burger reminded me of Blake's lotaburger in New Mexico.
