The food was really good; the glowering, angry busgirl with the long black hair, not so much.

Not the world’s friendliest place to stop.
The staff was a big standoffish and complaining about her day.
No breakfast after noon, lunch options were marginal.
Attentive staff. Good simple food, well priced. Lots of locals.

Good food, but pricy. Have to ask for silverware, always.

The cinnamon roll. Omg. Get it. Light, flavorful and not overly sweet.

Ahh, the wonders of Seelly Lake, Montana. Nestled in some of the most scenic terrain in Montana, Shelly Lake is a small town in what I call the outdoor tourism triangle of Montana. Yes, there are expansive lodges here catering to those who enjoy their comfort, interspersed with camp grounds filled with RV and yet campers for a more out in nature vibe. Enough Background, today I enjoyed breakfast at a local community favorite "Pops." A smallish cafe located just off the highway coming into town. Having read the mixed reviews on this place and from the outside appearance, I was not expecting much. Then I opened the door. I was immediately greeted by two smiling faces. Jen seems to be the star of the show here. She interacts with every customer as if they were family. She is immediately likable and sets the stage for a tiny escape from my real family...jk! The interior is typical small town Montana Cafe. Nothing fancy with some merch showcased discreetly at the counter. The place was super clean compared to similar places I have visited across the Pacific Northwest. The breakfast menu was not the complex ordeal of oddly named and frankly illegible names that the lodges like to give their food. Simple description with the price clearly marked. My one complaint (for those that follow my reviews, I wish you a speedy recovery from the shock) there was no waffle on the menu. I instead chose the Bacon Benedict, Eggs Benedict is a challenge for most Cafe cooks, and I, other than this time, have never been satisfied with the attempts. To say that it was good is an understatement. Not perfect (ok, a small additional complaint.) the English muffin should have been likely toasted before the plating. However, I enjoyed it despite it anyway. In conclusion, I want to say that Jen, you made those reviewers day with your dynamic presence, and the great food cinched the deal.
I recommend this place to any traveler, lodges or camper as the price isn't bad and the food is as good or better than the more expensive places in town. If you're staying here or passing through. stop here! Sidenote, I was sad to see a for sale sign in front of the building. It would be a shame for this place to disappear I to the miasma of development that is destroying Montana.

Avoid this place! Rudest waitress I've had in a long time! Listening to the waitress complain about people walking out mid service we should have listened to that red flag. She was loud, rude and made snide comments about us ordering just water with our food to another customer as I was calculating the tip, no tip for her rudeness! Food was mediocre bacon and sausage was over cooked. Hash browns were a very small portion for the meal price and under cooked. Do not recommend eating here!
