This lodge is ideal for a historic feel, the convenience of being in the park, and the services and amenities. We loved spending time by the fire in the common area of the lodge, with a beverage from the lounge. They have the famous red bus tours here (we did not take one, regrettably) but we did a boat tour of Lake McDonald which I highly recommend. The rooms are older, but comfortable. We spent most of our time by the fireplace or outside exploring the park!
The lodge was a wonderful place to stay in Glacier. Great location to access all West Glacier has to offer.
Lake McDonald Lodge looks like a nice place to stay, but more importantly it’s a place you should stop. There is a large camp store and plenty of parking and it gives you full access to the lakeshore. It’s also worth stopping at Lake McDonald. The stones that make up the lakebed look like jewels, with a vivid array of colours. If you come from St Mary, its also the ideal place to turn round and go back along GttSR. Its also a great place to stop for lunch.
Well worth a visit.
It was closed for the season but I want to comeback soon!
We were here in the winter when it was all boarded up but it's a beautiful location and a nice place to ski to or walk on the packed groomed Trail
Don't miss it..
The cabin is very simply furnished and really tiny, as is the bed. The carpet is disgusting. The shower curtain had mold stains. But the location is great! Lake McDonald is just a few steps away, which is a plus! The food in the restaurant was very good. Unfortunately, due to the impending end of the season, not all drinks were in stock.

Oh my God. What a beautiful setting within Glacier National Park. We didn't stay there so I cannot rate the rooms. But we did go to eat at the lodge and spent a wonderful evening at sunset overlooking Lake McDonald afterwords. . I highly recommend it. The lodge is a blast from the past when times were slower and more relaxed. The surroundings are gorgeous and the food choices were interesting. If we are back in the area we will go back.

It's got all the National Park charm you can get in a setting that has no equal. The food in the dining room is only mediocre but all the people are nice.

Beautiful lodge and great location. The restaurant was disappointing

Lake McDonald was a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in a cabin, was nicely updated, and had everything we needed. There was no wifi in rooms, just at the main lodge. Only stayed one night , so we didn’t get a lot of time to tour around. It was expensive but that’s to be expected in the location.

We didn't stay here, but it's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Absolutely stunning inside. I recommend just stopping by for refreshments.

Super enjoyable stay. I had a cozy lakeside cabin. Slept like a rock the bed was really comfortable. Food in the dining room was good. Nice place right on Lake McDonald with stunning views!

You will likely be disappointed if you stay here. The location is fantastic, as you are inside the boundary of the park, but the negatives outweigh that primary benefit. Our room in the Cobb House was nice enough, but our mattress was the worst we had ever slept on, you cannot shower using the apparatus they have installed on the cast-iron tub, they don’t want you to use housekeeping, and all this comes at around $900 a night, with taxes fees. There are people virtually elbow to elbow, and we stayed after Labor Day. The rooms at Cedar Creek in Columbia Falls are half price (still $499) and you are outside park, but are much more comfortable. Unless it’s really important you stay at the lodge or be inside the park, you are likely going to struggle to find much value at Lake McDonald Lodge.

This review is strictly for the concierge service. The androgynous person who looks very young has no business working concierge/customer service. I am shocked this nice of a hotel would hire someone like this.
