Today’s ROMEO lunch was an unexpected pleasure. @BigBullBar is located in the middle of nowhere, halfway between Helena and Townsend. The “bull” in the name stands for bull elk or bull moose, which we figured out as we entered the restaurant and were surrounded by huge mounted heads and skulls, a hunters dream. The giant elk head seen in our photo covered the whole table.
The Environment is decidedly backwoods Montana diner, with plenty of seating. Soft country music enhanced the background feel.
This establishment does not accept credit cards, but they have an ATM onsite.
We arrived three minutes before they opened at 11:00 am. The server was friendly and helpful, bringing our coffee out as soon as it was brewed and topping off our cups regularly.
Burgers appear to be their specialty, with a few other interesting options on the menu. The burgers are all 1/2 pound, but you can get a double if you want. (Neither of us did.) We both ordered the Crazy Burger, 1/2 pound of beef piled high with barbecue sauce, bacon, coleslaw, and onion rings, with pickles and onions on the side. Included with our orders was a huge helping of a combination of potato slices and fries, lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The slaw on top of the burger had a pleasant sweetness, offsetting the tangy barbecue sauce. The bacon is nice and crispy without being burnt.
The incredible taste of the meal reflects the fact that the burgers are hand-formed and never frozen. Neither of us was able to finish our potatoes, but the flavor wasn’t the problem, just the massive quantity.
If you’re planning on visiting this amazing find in the tiny town of Winston, MT be sure to bring your appetite. You won’t be disappointed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We held a memorial birthday dinner at Big Bull with about 18 people. We gave the option of prime rib or ordering from the menu which can be a big ask of the staff/kitchen with a group that size. I can't say enough wonderful things about the fantastic job the staff did and the top-notch service they provided in addition to some of the best prime rib we've ever had. Everyone else that ordered from the menu received their food timely and had nothing but great things to say. Big Bull also was able to comfortably accommodate our group perfectly in the back making it feel more intimate and special. Thank you Big Bull crew for a wonderful evening all the way around! We will definitely be back!

Had the special,A Crazy Burger. Very tasty bacon , coleslaw onion rings and BBQ sauce.The fries are fantastic,and the onion rings the best .large portions had to get Togo box for fries I couldn't finish the huge pile of fries.Will make it a habit to stop.

So disappointed I love eating here, brought my grandkids in after the fall fest on Saturday afternoon. Waited over an hour and a half for our food. People that came in after us got their food, ate it and we’re leaving before we got our food. The hamburgers were undercooked and the fries greasy. I don’t understand they weren’t overbusy. Nobody apologized. Kids were actually begging to go home before we got our food.
Ridiculously overpriced, $3 for a can of soda? And not very good.

Had breakfast this morning it was fantastic. Best meal for the money I have had in ages. Service was efficient, friendly, an overall great experience. Highly recommend taking a drive to eat or drink there.

Nice bar and grill with really good food, only issue is the younger blonde female server was completely rude and acted like we were an inconvenience to her. Had to hunt her down just to get a refill and mayonnaise for my meal that she even wrote down during our order.
