I think the tour companies must rate this place high. It was fine but not the top restaurant in the area.

The food was not tasteful. Looked and tasted like cafeteria food or a deli. Don’t recommend eating here.

Breakfast was delicious and very affordable. There is a decent selection on the menu as well. The portions are relatively small yet satisfying. However, if you’re a big breakfast eater then you might want to order more than just pancakes or French toast. The service was excellent and the staff attentive, although we were the only patrons there for the first 30 minutes or so. The restaurant is inside the park, but we did not need to pay an entry fee. Just be sure to tell them at the gate that you’re only interested in eating at the restaurant. They will give you a lanyard (visitor pass) which you can return after dining. Be sure to take a peek at the lagoon while you’re waiting for food. It is beautiful and full of fish. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, especially if you are staying in north Akumal. If you’re driving, there is free parking out on the streets nearby. Just know that this is a popular destination for snorkelers so you will have some company in and around the park. The restaurant itself was very peaceful.

Our best found gem during our two weeks in Akumal. This little open air jungle cafe is located in the second Yal-Ku park (go to northwest corner). You can only access it by paying entrance to park, or renting one of the units at Casa Romero next door. Breakfast and lunch only 9am-4pm. Chef Salvador is amazing and he puts his heart into his dishes. The prices are THE BEST WE FOUND IN AKUMAL! Everything on breakfast menu is under $5 US, including the huge, beautiful fruit plate that can feed 2 to 3. Huevos rancheros are great and the fresh squeezed OJ a must. We ate multiple meals here including getting dinner to go when they closed at 4pm and heating it up in the house later.Lunch items are mostly around $8-$10 US and the more deluxe items like octopus and fish are $15-$17. Super friendly with waiters Mario and Angel and nice views of the lagoon. Great place to eat after spending and hour or two snorkeling in lagoon.
