Food arrived at different times for each person so a bit awkward. Portions were overly huge. Couldn’t shift a dog under our table. Decor a bit revolving with Chucky with knife dripping blood in all images. Plus I was sick and throwing up the rest of the day and evening and it was the only place we ate so suspected food poisoning. Wouldn’t recommend.

Had my first quesadilla in Mexico here, absolutely delicious ! They did vegetarian too. Very helpful and friendly. I wish I had of been hungrier to eat more, it was so good. Quesadilla was 40 pesos.

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Quesadilla was delicious, has broccoli, carrot, cheese etc seasoning was lovely. They also did vegetarian tacos and burritos.

We were looking for a local, authentic neighborhood taqueria - and Taqueria “Chucky” does not disappoint. Quirkily decorated in keeping with its “Chucky” theme (yes, that’s right - the murderous doll that came to life), this local hot spot blends the very best local ingredients, food preparation craftsmanship, and grill-master techniques to offer a wide variety of really great dishes - from an incredible ceviche mixto (the blend of fresh seafood, lime, and perfect seasonings really shouldn’t be missed), to a wide range of fresh, incredible tacos (we tried them all and weren’t disappointed - carnitas estilo michoacan, carne asada, arrachera de Res, pollo a la plancha, camarón and pescado al ajo, empanizado o capeado, pulpo al ajo), burritos, and really great daily specials, Fridays and weekends they’ve got additional price cuts - on already dirt-cheap tacos (all $30mx/pc Fri-Sat), tortas (all $60mx each) and their prepared meat in each of the styles listed above (by the kilogram - all $300/mx), should you wish to continue the fun at home. Everything comes with a variety of sauces, herbs and additives (pico de gallo, chopped onions, cilantro, various salsas, a number of hot sauces) to suit every taste - and make sure you top up your tacos/burritos/whatever with these - the food’s already great, with the added stuff… incredible. Coupled with a crisp cerveza, mixed drink, fresh juice or house-made horchata (fantastic), you’ve got a meal worthy of royalty. Tons of locals coming in and out, obviously a very popular local spot, and though our group had 15 people in it we were seated quickly and without fuss - servers speak limited English, but enough to get by, and the menu comes in both English and Spanish, so you’re good to go either way. A really great hole-in-the-wall authentic taco spot, highly recommended, will definitely be going there again.

Vegetarian options: Not many purely-vegetarian options available on the menu, though each format (taco, quesadilla, burrito) comes with a vegetarian option.

Dietary restrictions: The staff is flexible and responsive to dietary needs - please discuss any issues with them - all tortillas are corn tortillas.

Parking: Plenty of free street parking located directly outside the taqueria.

Kid-friendliness: Kids love the Chucky theme, but there are few menu options directly made for kids.

Wheelchair accessibility: Fully wheelchair accessible - a portion of the eating area is covered in gravel, but an entire other area is level concrete.

Very expensive for an establishment of this level in Akumal town. Prices like in Tulum. In Akumal del Mar you can eat cheaper. Is rare. The interior, to put it mildly, is very sparse and very dirty. You don't expect to see those prices in a taqueria like this. The food was average. No wow, but delicious. No homemade sauces, only supermarket ones.

We wanted something away from the beach and authentic to the local community! We couldn’t have asked for a better place. Staff doesn’t speak much English… so walk in and seat your self… they will bring you menus. If you are needing service… please speak up… otherwise the staff will continue to do their work. Very friendly people, locals are going in and out and lots of laughter. Great place for a local atmosphere. Now the food! Absolutely worth what ever happens after I eat this ceviche ?? I can’t explain the mouth full of flavors unlike what I get back in the states. Lots of spices and savory lime flavor! I will now rest by my pool for a few hours in the sun! Thank you for the amazing treat!

We had wanted to go to a different restaurant but it was closed, and we wound up here instead. It looked a bit sketchy from the outside and we weren’t too sure about it, but this was the best food of our whole week in Akumal! The pork tacos were so flavourful and the guacamole was fresh and tasty. Two big thumbs up.
