The plates of food other reviews mentioned don't seem to be an option anymore. Instead I tried the tostadas and tacos (25 pesos each) with beans, cabbage, tomato, and avocado. Specify vegan and the owner will understand.
I visited on december and they weren't open till 6pm. $60 I had salad, beans, fried taco shells and salsa. Simple yet tasty.
He knew what vegan was. The food was sadly nothing special at all. Updated from previous review on 2022-01-31
Would give this place 5 stars even though it's not fully vegan if it was possible and here's why: - The owner is so friendly and they really make you feel like you're at home - When I wanted to explain what I don't eat, he already knew that I was vegan and told me what he could offer - The price is extremely fair. I paid 60 MXN for a huge plate of fresh veggies as a salad, frijoles, as well as tacos and tostadas - not to forget the salsas, too. - It's absolutely authentic, so if you're looking for a cultural experience, this is a place for you!
We searched Bacalar to find authentic Mexican food that was vegan. This is the only one we found. Three of us ordered a salad, rice and beans, guacamole and tortillas. The owner refilled the rice and beans plate and we stuffed ourselves with delicious vegan food. The total price of our meal - $6! For all three of us!! Updated from previous review on 2017-01-21
