They had the best tuna tartare I’ve had in a veeeeery long time. Great combination of sweet, salty and acidic, fresh! I definitely recommend it and the place. All dishes were excellent and our waiter Uzy was very professional and kind.

This place exceeded our expectations. We were just looking for some simple local cuisine but this was one of the tastiest meals we’ve had in Mexico. We had the coconut shrimp and the pork with mole sauce. We also had guacamole to start which they make to order at your table. They also have a few kids options which was ideal for our 3 year old. The atmosphere was really nice and the waiter was great (I think his name was Lucien??). Only tiny feedback would be to have high chairs for kids, but other than that, no complaints

Great spot for a lunch or dinner! Service was perfect - very friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic, we had the coconut shrimp and the fish of the day - both were 10/10! Must try place in Bacalar!!! Thank you for the amazing appetiser too

Terrible experience and this restaurant is highly overrated. Both the service and the food were way below our expectations and what you can normally expect in a restaurant. We went for dinner, and the place was almost full. First, we got asked twice bij different staff what we wanted to drink (no big deal, that can happen). Then, the food got mixed up, and dishes were served to our table that belonged to someone else (that can happen too). But most importantly, the food we ordered was not tastefull at all (very dry salmon and dry tuna steak). In the meantime, nobody asked if it everything was ok, and we were not asked if we wanted a second round of drinks. It was very hot and we wanted to drink something, but there was simply no one around to serve us. Our plan was to stay for desert, but after this we did not want that anymore and went to a different place. One waiter could speak English well, and he was working hard, but it looked like the restaurant was understaffed. We even had to stand up and had to search for a waiter to ask for the bill. In our experience, there are way better restaurants in Bacalar.

I’m sorry I don’t understand the many positive reviews. Maybe they are better for breakfast, because at night it was almost empty. We went for dinner & both the cocktails & food were very disappointing. Watery cocktails, food had stale tortillas that were not edible, unappealing looking presentation& dishes, just not very tasty especially for the price not being cheap. The atmosphere is fine, the service wasn’t bad, but it didn’t meet expectations set by the reviews and marketing. I wouldn’t recommend or return.

We had such an incredible night! It really makes the dining experience that much more enjoyable when the staff are happy and passionate about their work and their food! Saul was fantastic! I could not speak more highly about all the beautiful staff at La Cabañita. The cocktails were some of the best we’ve had during our month in Mexico. I loved the fact that the guacamole is made right in front of you and that the avocados come from the tree growing at the restaurant. Doesn’t get any fresher than that and it tasted amazing! The salmon was my personal favourite, all the flavours worked so well together. The dessert was also to die for! 10/10 I recommend paying them a visit when you’re in Bacalar!

The food was delicious! The aguachile was perfection. We ordered arrachera tacos, it was some of the most tender cooked meat I have ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Saul our waiter was friendly and helpful. And another waitress i can’t for the life of me remember her name (short hair and glasses) recommended a fantastic drink since I don’t like sweet drinks. The hibiscus gin was So tasty!!

La Cabanita is a wonderful discovery. The setting is sublime, the welcome warm. Mauricio, our waiter, was smiling and always attentive: perfect! The food prepared by Chef Diego was excellent, the presentation magnificent, worthy of a gastronomic restaurant. I recommend the guacamole prepared before your eyes and the Bacalar salmon is excellent. The cocktails are excellent. La Cabanita deserves the highest praise! Go there with your eyes closed and like us you will keep a very good memory of it.
This place is well deserving of all of the perfect reviews. It’s a lovely outdoor setting with plenty of tables. Our mezcalitas were delicious. The food was presented beautifully and all delicious- we had the guacamole, Aztec soup, steak tacos, and chorizo. We stuffed ourselves because it was all so yummy, we could not stop! The prices were very reasonable, too. We will be back soon!

Very cute and intimate off the beaten path of centro. Ambiance is perfect and natural with trees and birds. Music was enjoyable and appropriate for breakfast and coffee. Menu has a wide variety from waffles to Mexican scrambled plate yum! Bonus the menu is in duo language. I am definitely coming back.
