“The truth is that it is a very delicious place to eat and the presentation of the food is very elegant, I do not give it 5 stars only because I do not like that they suggest an extra expense such as the 15% tip added to the total bill. I prefer to decide how much I give.
Parking: Since it is a place in the center, you have to park around where you can get a place.“

“The burgers are without a doubt the best. ???? the presentation of their dishes 10/10
??? The burritos, at least the cutlet one I ordered, didn't really have much flavor, it had more purple cabbage than meat.
The atmosphere of the place (the lights, the establishment, the music ?) is great! ? We have already come on other occasions and we loved EVERYTHING, in fact we always recommend it; but this time we didn't feel very comfortable: 10 people arrived and since we were going for a celebration we were hoping to have a nice view for the souvenir photo, ? but they didn't let us put together 2 tables on "the balcony" (upstairs where the light curtain decoration) there were many unoccupied tables on the edges of that area ? but they told us that they would allow us to put the tables together if there were no people (which is not very likely). There was 1 hour left before they closed, so it was not possible that more people would arrive to occupy all those tables; We also wouldn't obstruct anyone's path because only 4 tables in that area were occupied.
Then they awkwardly pressured us to order quickly, but we understood because there were several of us, so we did as they asked. They informed us that there is no card payment. ? At serving time they forgot to bring a burger. ?
From the beginning we felt that they no longer wanted to serve us.
We had a very good impression of THE BOURGEOISIE until today.
I wish they would change their regulation of putting tables together on the balcony. Because it would mean that if we go with friends we will never be able to sit in that area. ?“

“Everything was great except the girl who served us, at first she was very nice but in the end we were at an over table, they only had two occupied tables of 10 and she got in between us to clean the table, anyway and I'm a clown but that to me was rude kind of go away and then no, finally the place has a concept so that you can stay and enjoy a little while longer after your food, everything else is excellent I loved it, yes I would go back
Vegetarian options: sushi“

“me gustó mucho el lugar que regresaría, solo no me gustó si ya había hecho la reservación que nos dejaran esperando más de 10 minutos en la recepción. La música no fue mucho de mi agrado, un blues hubiera estado mucho mejor. La comida exquisita que valió la pena la espera en la recepción. Imagino que los desayunos han de ser espectaculares rodeados de vegetación.“

“We were looking for a light dinner and a change from the regular tortilla-based food and this place really hit the spot. Had the mixed salad with an interesting citrusy dressing, grilled asparagus and the baked potatoes with cheese, all delicious. The 2x1 margaritas are superbly executed. My kid dropped a fork which our friendly waiter Santiago replaced before my wife had even noticed the mishap :) this place deserves way more customers.“

“Fantastic little local place, extremely tasty burritos, tortas, tacos etc for a very cheap price. Lots of sides and veg on a self service table to top up your meal and quick service. We were only in Mexico for a week but this was easily the best food we had.“
“We were looking for a taqueria but with their own little flair, and this was it. They have two options sirloin or soy, and the sirloin was bomb diggity! They cooked it perfectly and They had an awesome salsa bar. Bring your own drinks such as cold beer or water because they only sell food. But it was nice to bring whatever we wanted to drink. Gracias por la comida.“

“Brutalllllll, this place is great, the food is top quality, an unbeatable flavor, the price is super good and the service is one of the best and they have a tamarind salad that is impressive, if you are passing through the area or live here I recommend it to 100%“
“Vegetarian options: Sie hatten zwar kein Gericht auf der Karte. Haben aber eine super leckere vegane Quesadilla gezaubert.
Dietary restrictions: Man kann gut mit den Leuten sprechen und sie stellen sich dann auf die Bedürfnisse ein und kochen was leckeres“

“Brilliant cocktails.
Nice setting for a drink. The bartender was skilled, and the cocktails were excellent at a reasonable price. We didn’t eat, but the food looked fresh from what we saw being prepared in the open-plan kitchen. The place was busy the entire time we were there.“

“The women's bathrooms were horribly dirty :( there were problems paying by card and we had to pay with cash, it's a bit expensive
Positive things: The food and service are very good, they also have access to a small dock to have a nice time, swings and hammocks“

“An address not to be missed if you like good meat… well cooked.
A French chef behind the grill. The different meats are very well cooked and tasty. Don't miss the dish for 2 which offers 4 types of meat.
It is also an address for BEER lovers: blond brown IPA. And in pressure please.
A very good meal and not overpriced!“

“Hijos Del Cocho was recommended by a local. Boy, were we happy to have given this place a chance. We ordered to share the Tacos Caldudos, Taco’n Madre and Camerones Al Mojo de ajo. The camarones were not part of the menu but the server made it happen and they were super delicious. All food ordered was FLAVORFUL. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. The ambiance is chill and laid back for lunch, good music. Felipe, Diego and staff were all welcoming and friendly. The Menu had a variety of options to choose from. 10 out of 10 recommended!!!!!!“

“Unassuming place on downtown Bacalar where you can enjoy a nice bowl of pozole, which comes also in a vegetarian version (we tried both). Fair prices, they don’t carry alcohol and the aguas are from concentrate, hence the four star rating.“

“It is an excellent restaurant, the truth is, everything is very delicious, especially the Oreo hot cakes and the Yun Kax chilaquiles, the attention of the waiters is excellent, they serve you very friendly, and the food, despite having a lot of people, comes out quickly, it is worth going. a delicious flavor in every dish“

“Very good place, the legendary taco is truly legendary, and the camarones guacamole is also very pleasant. Fresh and light mixed Xcalak ceviche, fresh and rich pescado frito - very nice service, nachos served at the table and refilled when finished, sauces always available and tortillas brought to the table together with the fish. Great place, for an honest bill, highly recommended on Bacalar!“

“The price-service relationship is consistent. The treatment is friendly.
We went for dinner and the shrimp crust (shrimp tacos) was good, good seasoning; as well as the arrachera crust (arrachera tacos).
The atmosphere is peculiar due to its decoration (many candles, red lights). Loud music (alternative music)“

“We stayed at MBH - this restaurant was so good we didn’t even have to go out seeking for food. Appetizers were great, main courses were great, desert was great, service- AMAZING! Very helpful our entire stay, restaurant staff was super kind and always willing to serve with great attitude, always putting stuff out for mosquitos (super needed in. The middle of the jungle lol) you have to try even if not staying here, prices were decent as well“

“Beautiful garden with so many trees & plants. Delicious food (coconut cerviche and veggie burrito - ask for some hot sauce! "Salsa picante") and ice coffee (soy or almond milk options) Updated from previous review on 2025-03-11“

“Very good option to eat in the center of Bacalar.
We ordered the Ajal cheese as a starter, it was very good, I recommend it. I would only change the flour tortillas, because they are not good.
For the main course, the vegetarian burrito and the roasted portobello with tomatoes. The burrito is large and vast, it can be easily shared between 2 people and the sauces that accompany it are very good. Although the portobello is delicious, I think it leaves a little to be desired, since the lettuce does not feel as fresh and the variety of flavors is not felt as in the other dishes.
They have a very good cambucha.
Quality price, it was fair.“

“The place is very delicious and very nice. The only thing I didn't like is that the breakfast package does not include refil coffee and it says that the package is hollow to taste and they are not to taste, they are just scrambled eggs or Mexican style or with ham . Suggestion they should change the name or increase the package options.“

“A very Mexican place, delicious food! The shrimp, meat and sausage taquitos are super delicious!
We also went for breakfast and the chilaquiles are delicious!
The guy who serves is very friendly, he recommended places to visit.
SUPER affordable prices.“
“If you want to eat excellent tacos prepared right in front of you, it's here!! Quiet family taqueria, not far from the main square of Bacalar with all the noisy and touristy restaurants. We ate there 3 evenings and enjoyed ourselves each time. They offer corn tacos but also flour tacos and other traditional Mexican dishes. The map is short. No beer but it is possible to buy it next door to drink it at the table.“
“My honest reviewThe food is very good except for the beef because it was hard and tasteless; but the chorizo and pork chop so good. What gives it the touch is the sauces too good don't say the macha uff delicious and the spicy habanero very rich flavor... yes I recommend it“

“Yesterday we had lunch at "Los Hechizos", they were very kind with everything and we arrived at the change from breakfast to lunch...They allowed us to be on one of their docks to take photos and look at the lagoon. We had a very comfortable lunch, the staff was super friendly, everyone was very attentive. The food was delicious, the facilities very nice. Highly recommended.“

“Food here was some of the best we have had in Mexico. Best nachos I have ever had! Prices were not the cheapest but fair, you get what you pay for. Portions size of meals were big also. Highly recommend this place if you cant get a seat at Mr.Taco across the road. Only slightly annoying thing was that they blasted music very loud at 6.30pm but this seems like common practice in Mexico. ?♀️“

“We went to eat around 4 in the afternoon, the place is very spacious and has a view of the lagoon.
The menu is extensive. What we asked for was:
golden fillet
The fish ? known as dorado is very tasty, it is accompanied with a good portion of rice and peppers, it is prepared with butter, for my taste it needs to be seasoned with something that enhances the flavor of the fish, what we did was put the tamarind sauce that they put on it as a service.
Cheese Pasta
It is prepared with fettuccine and comes accompanied by shrimp and slices of almonds, it is prepared in the restaurant and the pasta is very long, the cheeses ? are well balanced, I really liked it.
inflated pibil
Basically it is a cochinita pibil toast, the presentation is what draws attention because it is on a puffed toast, which was crunchy and did not feel greasy, the cochinita was delicious.
Shrimp Esquite
If you are from CDMX don't expect a traditional ski hehe. They season the shrimp in a tomato sauce ? it is very delicious and they serve it with corn kernels, like a timbale and topped with toasted tortilla juliennes. The shrimp ? stand out in flavor.
Everything accompanied with fresh water can be one ingredient or two, orange with chaya is a little acidic, more refreshing.
For dessert we closed with a cheesecake and a chocolate pie ?, I'm not a big fan of sweets, both have a good presentation and I liked them
Parking: It is located on the street right in front of the restaurant.“
“Akira Ice Rolls Ice Cream Shop in Bacalar offers a unique and delicious ice cream experience. I tried a chocolate ice cream with roasted bonbon, Cool Whip and a piece of chocolate, and it was simply spectacular. Each bite combines the creaminess of ice cream with the crunchy texture of bonbon and the sweet touch of chocolate, creating an unforgettable flavor.
The preparation process is a spectacle in itself, as the ingredients are mixed and frozen instantly on a cold griddle, forming perfect rolls. It is an ideal place to refresh and enjoy a unique dessert while exploring the beauty of Bacalar.“
“Wow is all I can say. The chef is a first class master and the service was fantastic. This by far was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I got the short ribs and my husband got the duck. Truly an experience you won’t forget. Also chocolate dessert was heavenly. Beautiful ambiance and everything is detail oriented. The food is like art.“

“We are sitting down for the second time on our visit, as the food and service are excellent, it is very flavorful and plentiful. The prices are quite affordable when it comes to seafood and even more so when you see your dish so well served. Curious dishes, like chili stuffed with seafood... my favorite was the octopus with tamarind and my family was delighted with the Navieros burger!!“

“without doubt the best restaurant we have had in Mexico. you can go there with your eyes closed (but with mosquito repellent lotion). plus the prices are very reasonable. The whole family loved it. it was our canteen in Bacalar. (recommended by backpacker too)“

“Excellent place in the most lively square in Bacalar. The staff is wonderful. Even though they clean the griddle after each order, they offered to make my tacos in another pan, which made me absolutely sure there was no cross contamination. I had the tacos al pastor and they were delicious. Highly recommended.“

“Not quite a Cocina Familiar, but close to it. The family is in an open kitchen, cooking and are very friendly. They are open till 4pm and have take our or dine-in.I had the tostadas, which were $60 pesos for 3 of them. I noticed the Mexican diners ordered from the "Lunch Selections" which was just $100 pesos and they got soup, rice, salad, hot tortillas and the main dish. I'll be back to order that!I posted the menu as of Dec 28/22“

“The barbecue here is the best in Bacalar and surrounding areas, it is worth taking a detour and having lunch before continuing on. The tortillas are made to order, they come out hot and everything stands out for having the granny seasoning that one is always looking for. It's my favorite place ??“
“Fun atmosphere, good (not great) food at a great price. Lots of options and large portions for the price. If they are not packed (try to go on off hours) you will have a great experience. If you you go when it is packed, you will not have a great experience - they are understaffed for large crowds, they forget to tell people there is no menu (you have to flog read the menu boards above the kitchen and you have a good chance of being uncomfortably close to others as they push way too many people to each community table. I do recommend, but keep walking if they are packed.“

“The best tacos and tortas in Bacalar by far!! Their suckling pig is delicious, it runs out fast, at noon it's gone. Their delicious Asada cakes. The service is excellent, the owner greeted us and he was very friendly. The place is simple but very clean and nice. The best place to eat in Bacalar is this.“

“Good dishes! The service has been unbeatable, we had Fausto as a waiter and his mother in the kitchen! It is also a very authentic place, outside of the center of Bacalar and the tourist area in a very quiet place... this is also noticeable in the price, which is cheaper! I recommend!“

“What a wonderful place, the food is incredible. Let's start by saying that the place is expensive, if you don't have a good budget, don't go. It's worth it though. The atmosphere of the restaurant is incredible, many plants, good decoration, good music. The food is basically based on healthy but delicious food. When we went there was corn soup with carrots, seeds, I can't tell you what a wonderful thing. We ordered some makis and they were incredible. At the end we ordered the chocolate crusted salmon, ufff... Ufff.. Ufff.. Just thinking about it I want to go back.
This place is a mandatory stop.“

“This has been the best restaurant we’ve found in Bacalar—hands down the most decadent food. The service was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. We had (and absolutely loved) the coconut ceviche, grilled watermelon, and guacamole with castacán. For the main course, we enjoyed a variety of tacos, including cochinita, mushrooms, suadero, and castacán. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the texture to the flavors.
As for drinks, we tried a few from the menu. We had a couple of mocktails, one called the Porfirio, which was like a butterfly pea lemonade with honey, and a coconut horchata. My husband tried a “Mictlán,” which had mezcal, Aperol, Ancho Reyes, rosemary, strawberries, and blueberries—he said it was fantastic! He then tried the server’s recommendation, a “Melodoy,” which had mezcal, pineapple, Xila liqueur, lime, cranberry, and honey—also very flavorful!
The amenities are great, too. You are allowed to use their facilities if you’re dining there, and although we didn’t use them this time, the pools looked absolutely amazing with loungers and swing beds in the water.
Definitely recommend if you are in town.“
